Stainless steel exhaust system

This is whats gonna be hanging out from my bumper...custom made powerflow exhaust...

Just thought I would fire up this thread again as i have just been given a quote for a S S exhaust, from the cat to the rear. this would be a slightly larger bore, with back box and single exit tail pipe.... Ã‚Â£370 all in. just wondering if this price sounds fair. The mid section on my exhaust was new-ish when I got it, which was about a year and half ago now (i think!) so adding up the amount of times I will have to replace it, if I stick with the normal exhaust, I think it might be a good investment. I will just have to hope the rest of the car lasts to be worth it

P.S. How much is a replacement exhaust anyway??? After the cost and the labour fitting it, (as I couldn't) it's probably not a million miles away from the S S option anyway??

Hi Rachel

The standard exhaust cat back i was getting quotes of Ã‚Â£170-Ã‚Â£200 with labour

I got a standard one from a mate in the business, cat back again, for Ã‚Â£70, and i fitted it myself.

SS systems from powerflow-dont know anyone with a 480 who got one (new) from them, but my mates for his Civic was Ã‚Â£400 all in.

So...the standard ones last, maybe, 10 years, so in 20 years you'll have paid the same amount as an SS system with life long gaurantee...

Cheers for that. Not sure about standard ones lasting 10 years...are you sure? Like I said, mine was pretty much new about 2 years ago and it's f****ed!

The 10 years was just a total guess

, i just know that when the exhausts fell off of my ES and GT they were 12 years old, and according the GTs history, it had never had an exhaust, only a cat...

Interesting. Got me looking in my history which is pretty much complete from new, and I can't find any receipts for exhausts, apart from one from Kwik-fit which doesn't say what the items are, just numbers, which could be exhaust. maybe they do last that long

I can't justify getting the S S system if this is the case...gutted!

Well I did it. I threw caution to the wind and got the S S system. Do you like?? I never liked the dummy fog light..if your gonna have a light have it working! So I got rid of it. Top job done, but unfortunately I didn't get a pic of it up on the ramp.

I like what you done there looks a good fitment within the fog light casing! Nice job, best style back box too i think they suit the 480 the best as well as the ovel ones.
