Engine and Brake caliper Paint

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

My spitfire calipers which I rebuilt and have drilled and green ebc pads / SS lines. That's special anti heat paint.

Shiney shiney, very nice. Them's proper calipers.

Did mine in engine laquer in the end as the electroplate had copper from the electrodes plastered all over it.

How long do you recon the paint will last?

I really don't know but those calipers are iron or something because you could stop a ship with them. I'm thinking 4 pot calipers for the spitfire at some point.

There about the same size as a 480 front caliper but of course much wider.

There is about 4 or 5 coats on those so hope it lasts. I also did the engine / gearbox & diff in the same colour.

I'm not to fond of the hammerite-trick. Tried it twice now, and it's all looking like a million - until the first Track-day... The plastic-stuff in the hammerite all truns into a darker shade, and becomes like rubber, and brakepad dust will stick to it. :-(

Could be that Hammerite in your cuntry has different quality? Just a thought (you know what all these countries have all their own legislations!!) Only cos mine are holding out pretty good a year and a bit on!

There are a number of mechanical devices which increase sexual arousal, particularly in women. Chief among these is the Volvo 480 ;)

Paint

I once did the rear drums on a 440 just to see what would happen.

Simply brushed off the loose rust and painted with Hammerite.

No blasting/baking/expense.

Worked fine and sold the car locally. See it around occasionally and they're still working ok.

Just do it Esta!!

In terms of a brake upgrade, rather than forking out for over-the-top and silly price Brembos, Wilwood do loads of different calipers, some that are very light and will be suitable e.g. the four-potters.

A local engineering shop should be able to knock together a suitable bracket for fixing to the volvo calipers for a few quid too.
