Front centre armrest - available from 440/460?

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Good question, there's a few 440's in my local scrappy, I'll have a look and see if one has this type of armrest and if it'll fit the 480

My only worry is it might make the window switches a bit awkward to get to, but doesn't the cupholder one get in the way of them as well?

Not sure Ad

I thought it was attached the same way as the 480 one, I could be wrong though

I think it might be, I went to look at a 95 440 a while back, it had the arm rest but i'm sure it was attached to both seats

If it was attached to both seats, the passenger would have to sit in exactly the same position as the driver! I've seen a few of the facelifted 440/460's with the centre armrest, its fixed into the drivers seat. I would imagine the early 440/460's would use the 480 type cupholder.

how could you tilt the seat forwards if the centre arm rest was attached to both.....and as roo has just said....how about sliding back and forth?

im pretty sure it fits where the original one does, but stand to be corrected.

seats don't tilt forward in a 440/460 as these are 4 door saloons...

Rest is right though

but we're talking about fitting it in a 480, which DOES have two doors, and seats that tilt/slide.....

The centre armrest would be quite difficult to fit an a 480. To make a good job you would ideally have to remove the cover from the seat as the armrest is secured inside by a mechanism. Plus the pin that holds the armrest to that mech. is an absolute arse to get out. I remember because of the problems i had with mine.

Not trying to dampen the idea, but it's a hard thing to do for something you would expect to be simple.

And @ Ad, it's only secured to the drivers side, but the passenger could easily use it...
