After all those years.... (update 26/11/2006)

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

After all those years.... (update 26/11/2006)

Post by hebruins » Sun Sep 10, 2006 1:35 pm

...... it finally started

After driving the 480T as a original car, I'm now going to style/modify/pimp it.

Tried to sell it the past months but only tyrekickers came by. So I decided to keep it myself, but since my other car (the 1986 MR2) is as good as finished (stylingwise) I'm moving on to the 480T with the styling plans.

Last wensday I've fitted a brand new set of white front clusters to replace the original orange ones. And yesterday I've picked up a set of 17" wheels for the 480T. The wheels are Eta Beta EB51 7x17 ET35 and they are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres 205/40/17. Only need to get some spiggot rings to make them fit perfectly.

Here's a sneak preview of the results to be, later this week the actual fitted pictures will follow.

Image

In the near future there probably will come a lowering set, because I'll think it will look very 4x4 -ish when the wheels are fitted

Not sure about the red stripe though; was planning to remove it when fitting the white clusters, but it turned out to look better than expected. (on pictures I've seen I didn't like the red stripe on black cars with white clusters).

What do you say, looks good or not?

Red stripes on black 480 are sooooo yummie, it would be a shame if you removed them!

Anybody else though about replacing the red stripe with a different colour?

Perhaps, white, or silver?

Any other styling tricks in mind? It's generally the small things that count. :D

I hear they are a fair bit. Possibly millions! But that might just be a rumour... For some reason I have £60 in my head...

I've inquiered about the complete stripe stickerset earlier this year: €150,- which comes to arround £100,-

The wheels have not been fitted yet, It's hard to get a set of spiggot rings which don't cost a fortune, so far I've been quoted £30,- and up.... for 4 plastic rings :(

Re: the stripes for our beloved 480's

I understand that Volvo are no longer doing the stripes, if people want I can do a set of side stripes in various colours.
As yet I am unable to do the Bumper ones but will work on it should anyone require them.

Set of side stripes would be £15.00 per side plus P+P

If anyone needs to know how they look ask Glynn ( aka Bear) he's had a set, take a look at the Lincoln meet.

PM me for more info.

I enquired about one just last week actually.

I went in to Inchcape Volvo asking for a Paris Edition Green Stripe kit.

Red,Black or Green are £50 each set.I went to 3M instead!

Are the bumper stripes just vinyl, or a 'seam' that's inserted into the bumper?

The wheels look better than I thought they would. :) I'm not a fan of big alloys though!

I like were you choose to take the picture!
