Centre Console

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

Centre Console

Post by Dan the 480 Man » Tue May 16, 2006 8:23 am

I was just wondering if anybody else had modifed theirs?

I'm wanting to keep my car subtle-i don't want over the top mods or tacky mods etc. I've already sprayed my grill (as in the metal surround and badge) gloss black, which looks quite nice imo. I'm currently in the process of adapting the standard Volvo speaker covers in the front doorcards too, to accomodate my new speakers. The plan was once these had been finished to mask the actual grill off and spray the rest gloss black too, to cover up the joins etc. As the car is white, black plays quite a prominent role-as in window pillars, window trims, rear lights/hatch-inside with the dashboard, leather door cards, Jacquard interior etc. I know these things are apparent on most 480's, but more noticeable on the white ones (again, imo).

My centre console has scrapes and marks etc that don't seem to want to come out-i've soapy washed them, back to black silicone gel, washing powder but dirt usually reveals a scrape of somesort which just looks poo (not my doing, i'm careful when i get in the car!).

I saw a picture of the Bronze 480 interior, which had a colour coded centre console and i thought it looked quite nice. I think if i done mine white it would look a bit ott, but was thinking about doing it gloss black to match the speaker covers/grill/interior colours...

It's mainly just to cover the scrapes up, but i thought it would look ok.

The Bronze cabin: (looks good body colour, but only because there is more to match it-this isn't what i want to do, just the centre console)

A good idea or not? :?

Hi Dan!

The only item I have ever seen looking ideal for the centre console is a Sat Nav screen, the smaller Alpine ones.

Now,this is no use to you whatsoever I know!

I bet someone out there would like to have 2 Fuel Boost ECUs showing, one Rich'd and one not. Then, they could DIY unplug the ecu and swap when stopped. Not many people would like that, but some,;-)

I may well delete this post! :? :?

Lol, find me one chaved up corsa that doesn't have various bits of trim painted. I'd hope your originality extends further than that bakke!

You could do it in leather like I did with my last 480. I had a red turbo and did the center in black with red stitching. I thought it was nice.

Now I have a 7" widescreen mounted. (As many of us have apparently  )

I saw this pic of the new James Bond car and started wondering how I could go about putting suede around the dash....
