3rd party sunroof

The Volvo 480 looks good as is, but if you have the desire to give it a more personal look you can find out what others did to their 480 and be inspired.

3rd party sunroof

Post by robkendall » Thu Aug 04, 2005 7:04 am

the turbo, for god knows what reason, has had a 3rd party sunroof put in it at some point.
i spent all day yesterday cleaning the layers off black silicone type stuff off it....obviously hinting that it leaks, whihc it does!
the sunroof is a 'webasto top slider'....ive searched around the tinternet, and cant find any sunroof fitters anymore...used to be 10 a penny at one point.

does anyone know of any fitters in or around south yorkshire?
basically, the inner seal has gone...i can see where its leaking in, rather than cover it all back up with gunk, i would rather replace the seal.
i wonder if auto glass would be able to provide a new seal.....hmmmmm

Try here...

http://www.webasto.co.uk/am/en/am_automobile_3016.html

There is a dealer locater on there, might be someone near you? I would imagine any windscreen fitting company would help as they usually carry a stock of window rubbers/trim/seals. Some are damaged when removing the window or when the window was broken.

just phoned my local webasto dealer......approx 100 pounds for the small strip of inner rubber....thats just supply....
he said that it could actually be the roof/sunroof seal that had gone, and it might be best to take the whole lot out, clean up and reseal.....much more than 100 pounds!!

hmm.....if anyone sees anything in a scrappy that looks like a webasto sunroof, pull me the little black rubber that goes between the glass, and the sunroof gubbings....ie, its the seal the glass sits on

please!!

I'd try a place like national windscreens, they might have a universal section of rubber that would do the job?
