M10 coming in to stAlbans, long sweeping left hander going down hill.
4,800rpm needle went past 140mph, plenty of revs left just no grunt.
Don't you hate it when somebody borrows your car with a full tank of 98ron and gives it back 3/4 full of 95!!!!! Would have been kinder to bend me over and stuff a tenner in my mouth when done!!!!!
According to the owners manual for a 95' celeb top speed in 5th is 128mph!? What is it supposed to be for the turbo?

The Topspeed isnt very importent for me, so thats ok...
But over 4000rpm the boost goes down. at 5000 the Boost ist only at the end of yellow. The rpm-range is to short.
Would I have a bit more Boost if I screw the threaded rod from the Pressure-Tin(?) ? Or is it to dangerous?
Sorry for my bad english.
And sorry, I know its a bit offtopic.

I still don't get it. Does the 5th gear have no rev limiter. As said, you can have tons of power, but the gearing gives the max top speed.... As I understand, at the moment only the amount of power vs wind resistance and drag is the main thing here. If you calculate a little with the gearing then you get that the tops speed on our 480 with its stock gearing is now 130 mph or 210km/h @ 6000 rpm on the 5th gear.

Going downhill on a German Autobahn I floored it. The needle went off the scale, resetting avg speed on the computer showed 213km/h (132mph). Then a van changed lane and I had to brake hard.
Under normal conditions it will do 195km/u (121mph).

after over 10 years parted with the 1995 Volvo 480 ES 2.0

Quite right to do it that way...the speedo overreads by between 5% and 10%.Van wrote:Going downhill on a German Autobahn I floored it. The needle went off the scale, resetting avg speed on the computer showed 213km/h (132mph). Then a van changed lane and I had to brake hard.

My nissan is very nearly 10%.
Stupid laws, why can we have accuracy? (uk at least, speedos have to overread, by a max of 10%)

All the way round the clock, although front end gets very LIGHT AND SCARY
ten years ago in my old black turbo, now getting T4 power, although the new Volvo v8 would fit nicely, especially powering the rear wheels, then will try another top end run .....
