Robou ECU - Reset

Post by mathrock » Sun Sep 08, 2019 7:13 pm

I've had my Robou ECU installed and running for about a month. It greatly enhances the driving experience and fun!

However, I've noticed recently that the boost is occassionally getting limited like it's in a limp mode. Resetting the ECU with the jumper allows the engine to make full boost again (into the red).

What are the conditions in which the ECU goes into this limp mode where it needs to be reset? Is there any way to determine why the ECU is getting put in limp mode? Like a way to read trouble codes on newer cars?

The only problem I've experienced that could be related is that when I'm on full boost (~13psi, near the end of the red on the gauge) it feels like the clutch may be slipping. Aside from that I've not noticed any other running issues with the car. It idles well, it runs and accelerates well, and it's peppy when on boost. But then it seems to randomly need to be reset sometimes.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I usually run premium (93 octane, E10) in the USA. However the current tank is some ethanol free gas I found in NH (probably 91 octane?). I'm about due to fill-up the tank, so I'll see if some new premium gas helps. Thanks.

The way of expressing octane rating differs on either side of the pond. 93 in the USA is what 98 is in Europe.
