B20F Rev limiter cheating

Post by montonen » Sun Mar 22, 2015 3:46 pm

Hello, i have 460 with 2.0l engine. Is it possible to "cheat" rev limiter to get more revs? Is it controlled with ECU?

I had many years ago 440 with 1.7 carb. and if I remember correctly, it took about 7000?! revs?

I don't know about the rev limiter.

But I know that the 2.0 isn't as strong as the 1.7.
Higher revs would probably be asking for trouble tbh.

Power drops like a stone past 5k anyway, but I do know where you're coming from.
The 2.0 does seem happier to rev than the 1.7.

Hammers can't fix a 480!!!

I had a B20F fitted to a 340 using the 340 ignition so no rev limit. It was more than happy at 7000RPM but I have come accross these engines having problems with the bearing when rev high a lot

6000rpm is a very common limit among 4 cylinder engines. There has to be a reason for that.
