Hi,
I have a 1991 1.7i with a cat and lambda fitted (says catalyser under the rear light) does anyone know whether deletion of the cat and mid box will do any good? this is my daily as well, don't want and can't afford to loose too many MPG's! also if its a go ahead what should i do with the Lambda sensor itself?
Thanks, Fraser

Re: 1.7 N/A DECAT
I think since last year the rules for MOT changed regarding Catalysers.
If it was fitted as original equipment the vehicle has to have one, or it's a fail.
I think if you removed the internals you might get away with it, as on looks it still has one.
To be honest a lot of people think that fitting a new 'zorst' will increase the power.
It does but only if you change the manifold too.
If your willing to have a custom exhaust made you ideally want a 4-2-1 manifold.
a good custom shop will noise test it too, to make sure it isn't illegal.

There are always ample warnings and there are always subtle signs,
And you would have seen them coming but we gave you too much time.

Re: 1.7 N/A DECAT
can't comment on new MoT regs but if the vehicle is PRE CAT reqd and you carefully remove the Cat badge you should be OK? unless the new gucchi sysytem can check chassis numbers against build spec?
the cat on mine was jiggered due to engine being sh***d and when I put the cat on (after a failed MoT), performance dropped away
