jamo , thats for the slanty B21 series engines , im thinking of having some made since its a good idea .

anyway you can change the timing with some offset ground woodruff keys .

Ill need to check , if i have time , to check exactly where the cam is timed , this will be if you can let me have your motor for another week .

The cam is ground to be spot on with the original marks , but it would be nice to advance it slightly , that would bring some low end power back .

sorry , dont do the bling bling thing , but thats nice idea for once its done <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... tongue.gif ALT=":p">

i was thinking of just seeing where the cam timing is and contacting my manufacturer to get an offset ground woodruff key (or 2or3) to see the effect that each one has .

but the problem is each car is different so it really needs an infintely variable cam wheel that will make up for differences in cylinder head heights etc .

that might not get done in a week since i have to design it aswell

Yeh but the 480 has an electronic controlled ignition.
If you have an offset woodruff key, wouldn't this effect the sparking as it there be a big gap to spark between rotor arm and spark points?

I dont understand this one, could you enlighten me?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub32.ezboard.com/bvolvo480.show ... oDodger at: 8/5/03 2:48 pm

were talking the small matter of two degrees at the camshaft , the ignition is controlled by a TDC sensor on the flywheel , i think theres more than enough play in the manufacture of the dizzy to allow this .

Ah i see, cheers

So in the long term are you considering designing a vernier pulley then? and are you going ahead with the woodruff keys?

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub32.ezboard.com/bvolvo480.show ... oDodger at: 8/12/03 1:27 am
