How can I tell I recieved a genuine Richmod ?!
Hello folks,
Am waiting for a Richmod I bought off this forum and as soon as it arrives I want to make sure it is actually modded and not a standard one. Right now my car is at the body shop for a respray and so I can not try the ECU once its here.
If I open up both ECU's what should I look for to confirm that it is actually a modded ECU ??
ohh and no there's no one in the vicinity that owns a 480 turbo to try the ECU on..
Cheers

This is one of the method of modding ECU. Increased fuel delivery.r5b18ft wrote:so a Richmod is done only by replacing those 2 resistors ?!?Sieger wrote:tipext on the bolts and

chip
Those resistors do not change fuel delivery.
The chip does alter the parameters of the fuel delivery.
Resistors change throtthle response and turbo pressure.
Only way to be 100 % sure you received a genuine Richmod is to check parameters by reading the chip.
But then the question arrives : what are the parameters of the Richmod ?
You never can be 100 % sure.
If you bought a Richmodded ecu, try it in your car, if you step out with a big smile you probably got a real one.

Yes this is correct! however the eprom has had a new map put into it so "DO NOT" just change the bit's over, there is something in the insulation.Sieger wrote:tipext on the bolts and

If you attempt to change the bits but dont have the right map on the eprom you will kill the engine!

there's a mod that behaves and looks like Richard's, but without modifying table. check at the car of the month december 2004. it does provide you with aditional power, but the ecu senses this mod as a fault in sensor and eliminates the 'error' - you have to reset the ecu each 100km or it will gain it's original power.
You'll have to plug it in a suitable car to be sure.

I've been meaning to try the diy mod for myself some time. It seems odd that the software would detect a modification to the hardware and require resetting. I think I will try it and see for myself. Other than the old cr of the year post, I don't think too many people have tried this.
Apparantly this is all that is done by some chip tuning companies on these cars? Worth an experiment anyway. Might wait till it gets a bit warmer outsie though!

I did this mod and soon after burned discs. it does it's job, but it vanishes later. LH2.2 is adaptive electronics - adaptive to erratic sensors.
I got it richmoded later..

Also worth knowing, inside that insulated "tube" is a resistor, not just a electric or data conducting wire.
