480 turbo non-start

Post by r5b18ft » Tue Oct 20, 2009 6:22 pm

Hello all,

My 480 turbo engine wouldn't start..

I may be thinking that the injectors are in some sort of way blocked with dirt. This engine has been not working for over a year and now have just put it in my little 5. Last week I had no fuel going into the rail, my regulator was completely blocked. Not even a leak with an 8bar fuel pump squeezing fuel in. I've sorted that problem now, new regulator, but I still think no fuel is going in.

I also tought maybe its a problem with weak ignition but I've pulled out a plug and poured a little ammount of fuel in and put the plug back in its place.. cranked the engine and it ignited.

Cranked the engine until my battrey ran flat... pulled out another plug and was really dry. Not even damp or anything. Just smelled abit of fuel..

So could it be that they are dirty because it has been not used for a long while ? and how can I check if they are working properly ?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

Thanks

David.
