You will be able to make it fit, only small constructual problem is the cooling channel on one side. A big problem as follows:
The standard volvo head is a flat head, means no combustion chamber in the head but in the pistons.
The renault 16v head has the combustion chamber in the head, and flat top pistons are used in this engine.
So if you use the 16v head on the volvo bottom end, you'll have two combustion chambers, reducing the compression ratio as far as below 6. That will give you no low rpm torque.
Better you buy a thicker head gasket for you 16v engine, reducing the compression ratio to about 8-8.5. and put the turbo on this engine.
