tuned purple ECU endnumber 194

Post by V480TI » Fri Feb 20, 2009 6:01 pm

I had to buy another tuned ECU cause I am waiting for an other one now a few months.(purple one endnumber 194)
Came from::: www.elchteile.de

But :: I put it in and the car won't start. The car makes the starting sound
(sounds exactly as when you put the wrong ECU in)
but won't fire.
I put an other ecu in (endnumber 125) and it runs.
But the other fuel computer in the glovebox is purple and with endnumber 194.

So what can cause the thing to not run ??
I haven't taken the power off to reset it.Could this be a reason ??

colours and number match ... weird.... maybe the thing is broken or so but I checked solderings and they were fine.

thanks and greetz

Damaged ECU, I had the same with my 1st rich mod. You can run wrong fuel ecu with the ignition ecu's.

It isn't what I wanted to hear, but I expected sort of this.

What could be damaged ??

Or is this a question with thousand answers ??

Did you take of the battery leads before replacing the ecu? Can get damaged if the power was on while replacing.

nO idea what could be faulty. Might be worth taking the box apart and having a look.

could also be setup to use bigger injectors / re worked MAF.

leads

Post by V480TI » Sat Feb 21, 2009 6:21 am

Hmm, I didnt take off the leads but , have changed over 10 Ecu's in 6 480's and never have taken off power when changing and never had problems.

I will try again today and solder the changed things again and take power off.

Plugging and unplugging electronic devices while power is applied always is playing russian roulette. When all the pins are of equal length one never knows which pins connect first and this may result in unwanted circuits within the design which, in turn, may ruin the device.

This is why sometimes the power pins/leads are longer for devices that need to be live plugged in. Have a look at a USB-stick.
Too old to bother
