My turbo is due new front shocks; any recommendations?

There's actually a good few options for shocks for the 480 and it all depends on comfort and budget. You can buy various types of standard volvo replacement shocks with provide you with the comfort side of things. If your after 'sports' shocks, then Koni are the obvious choice if price is no issue, but there are various other manufacturers at more reasonable prices such as KYB and Bilstein. Search the forum and you'll find loads of info on this.

The bilstein are good on the front, just avoid for the rear.

as for recommedations. I used Bilstein's on the front too, with KYB's on the back lowered on to Lesjofor springs. The handling was great and the arches never scraped once. I couldn't fault that setup apart from the firm ride!

Dont forget a dutch brand :: KONI

KONI yellow for both rear and front
for the rear you must take them off the car to adjust, the front can be done under the bonnet.
The rear has 3 settings and the front is adjustable as you wish in stiffness.

running koni red's. So I sugest spend some more and get a good set with adjustment. You will love the car after that.
