Yeah,I've noticed that i am pushing the 100% duty cycle at 12.5 AFR,and sometime 110% while spike occurs after changing gears,so i also moved on to ~300cc

Now,i have a Q for GixFigher : Are you shure your advance table from your msq posted some pages ago,is the stock one ? I am asking because i have found this : http://www.freewebs.com/hjkort/480ecus.htm

...witch is almost the opposite to yours !
I have tried it and id runs smoother i must admit...

@GenerationVolvo : Do you have a spark advance map ? Can u make a print screen ?
I must admit, after having so much problems with the old GTT 1.4 engine (all after severe detonations) am freaked out in pushing the advance, even with the KnockSenseMS stuff installed ! So i am trying first to understand this, than to play with it

I've been pondering if I'd start a megasquirt project with my B18E. There is no lambda so what would I have to look for if I go with megasquirt? I'm a complete noob on this whole thing...

Hi there ,

I finally have my MS II computer , now a few questions .

1. do i need to buy special sensors or can i use the stock sensors. in other words is it "plug and play" .

2. are there any How to's availeble for changing from standard computers to MS
.

Thanks in advance

The only benefit of MS (or other standalone ECU) on a B18E is that then it is possible to have a higher rev limit.
I wouldn't bother unless Im building a heavily modified engine (cam, head work)

I would only do it out of interest and if I'll get the B18FT I'd have some experience over the MS by then :)

hmmm, strange, from what I understand from the megamanual you need to retard ignition timing while boost increases, this table does the opposite???

I'm a bit lost now....

I am running this map now with no obvious detonations...i mean i can't feel anything spooky in the acceleration, and can't see no spikes in the rpm line, but i have troubles tuning the KnockSenseMS as i think i have a lot of noise under the bonnet, and the sensor picks false triggers !

AFR is no leaner than 12.5 while on boost si i think is ok !
I've scored constant 14.1s @ 400 with 0.9 bar and sliks in a 32 degrees MAT

Hi!
An interesting topic you have!

I've just been busy tuning mij Volvo 343 Turbo. It has the B18FT engine out of an Volvo 460 Turbo. What I want with that car? Drifting!

I also saw your ignition-map.........I think you can go a few degrees higher.
The standard ECU of the B18FT gives it 8 degrees bij 800rpm and 35 degrees @ 2500rpm (above the 35 degrees it will be constant). Off course this is without load. From this you have to decrease it 1 degree every 2 psi.

I've also been busy with the boost-control and it won't work. I'm curious how you got it working. Would you please explain? Did you use the standard bleed-valve?

Keep up the good work!

(Sorry, for the bad English; I'm just a Dutch guy ;))

The boost solenoid is controlled with a frequency, 120Hz if I remember correctly.

Although my engine is ruining fine, the ignition map still buggers me and i think I'm not getting the best out of this engine that way ! Common sense is with boost increase back the advance but what i've found and posted already is somehow wrong !
So can anyone of you post they're ign map to debate a bit !

Wheel that chart is wrong way around, found the answer from the user who extracted this map !
Hey

Thanks for the excel tip - graphed all my tables now (fuel + ve) for the F7P - looks amazing Smile

Looking at the above graph for the B18FT i've just noticed the load scale is the wrong way round, which is why the graph is back to front!

Matt
So gixfighter yours is the right one !

Is anyone using a Megasquirt ECU with a B18FT using the same flywheel and sensor?
Can I use the same flywheel with ford EDIS ignition??

Cheers

Yes it works.A friend of mine is now going Coil on plugs, and the pickup signal is the same, the stok one

I thought Megasquirt only works with a 36-1 trigguer wheel.

Hi

i'm playing a little with the megasquirt, but i did not get it to run on my engine. i installed the IAT changed the wireing as discribed, only thing i haven't done is wire the fuel pump (it rund apart from the MS) is this the problem?

And it is possible more in detail, what for a wire of the fuel pump and for what it becomes???

The fuel pump wire that goes from MS is actually a ground that switches a relay on/off,relay that powers on the fuel pump.
It is advised to power on the injectors from the same relay as the fuel pump.

P.S. I have now switched from MS2 Extra to MS1 Extra with experimental ALS. :-D

If I have correctly understood, it is necessary to put the separate relay on the fuel pump, having separated it with injection atomizers?

And what it will give as a result? Or still it will be necessary to change the fuel pump for more productive, and an injector too to change?

And what means, was switched with MS 1 on MS 2 and ALS and what such MS and ALS actually?

Thanks
