No need for MAF! Megasquirt in most setups uses MAP sensor and IAT
YAY! Thank god for that mate. I have MegaJolt for my Spitfire which I'll be fitting soon. It's only for the ignition but can be setup to a fuel ecu (+MS) like what your installing.

What Megasquirt have you got? Theres V2.2 and V3.0 of the PCB, and then MS1 CPU or the never MS2 CPU.

I'd ditch the EDIS coil pack as I believe it needs it's own Ford trigger wheel. You will need to open the Megasquirt up and possibly change a few wires inside. It says Megasquirt 2 in the ebay ad, was it listed wrong then?

If it is MS1, then check out www.extraefi.co.uk, its a pretty good site for newbies to Megasquirt and download the latest set of tools/firmware etc.

I would order a MS2 ECU, it's plug and play with the V3 board. There are many advantages with a MS2 ecu and many different settings so you can't use my msq file for this!
Please be carefull with buying megasquirt from ebay, check www.megasquirt.info for more info. They always pretend it's MS2 but it turnes out to be MS1.

Good luck megasquirting your B18FT!

I forgot about this, I will probably do it. It should be fine for doing comparisions on different modifications. At the moment I'm only running 4psi of boost, but I should see some difference after I change the cam shaft (either good or bad!).
You probably will see a good result, because of the low boost, 4psi isn't very much. Running at 15psi will probably give you completely different results as the longer valve overlap will cause the boost to exit through the exaust valve before it closes. That's what I'm afraid of, but I don't know any specs of the stock B18FT camshaft nor the B18E camshaft, anybody?

Why are you running at only 4psi?

At the moment I'm running 4psi to fine tune the ignition map. Getting knock at 4psi is a lot safer than at 15psi!

I seem to remember using some software from a long time ago for analysing camshafts and their effect. I'll see if I can dig it up.

You can use this ignition map:

Image

I'm running this map and didn't experience any knock up to 1,2 bar (17,4 psi)

Maybe you can get some more power when you fine tune this map, but I doubt very much as it is doing at least as much power as with the Rica chip i also have.

I'll try that map, but it doesn't look very wild compared to many examples I've seen from other similar 8v turbo engines...but then you say its the same as the rica so I'll have to see.

And I've read some stuff up about the B18E camshaft and I don't think it will be suited at all. I don't want the hassle of having to swap the original back in. I read on volvo300mania that " he B18E opens the inlet valve at 16 deg btdc and then closes at 64 deg abdc (I do not have the exhaust times) and provides a lift of 10.49mm. "

The cam specs are also on this forum including exhaust spec  . The Turbo cams (there are 2 versions) are around 245 degrees and the B18E is around 260 degrees.

I tend think you need a different cam when you approached the 200hp level.

ignition imput capture: falling edge?.... i was convinced that rising edge is the right option... but i'm just assuming and your MS is running :D

i need to read parts of the manual again.
an one more thing.... the autotune option has dissapeared in extracode.... i'm right?

best regards,
Florian
Florian,

You are right about the input capture, it should be rising edge instead of falling edge. I went through that part of the manual today and found out that the falling edge setting is wrong. Anyway, I didn't notice any change in performance on my engine after changing it.....

I also did some VE-table fine tuning last week, updated my msq file here:

This is the flywheel sensor if you read the signal from EZK pin 23.

 New Innovate LC-1 has a different issue now, Error 8 and AFR going all over the place. Should have bought an AEM as I've just about had enough.

Is the power supply sable enough?
Peak voltages can cause some to the sensor

The first one worked fine for about 2 weeks, then went totally dead, not any sign of life. I think my sensor may have been damaged when I drove it around a bit with no power applied.
