480 ES 20L

Post by joker777 » Tue Jul 01, 2008 6:37 pm

Just bought a 480 ES and the exhust is ok but not in the best of nick, As i bought the car for economy (both my other cars are 4x4's) i dont want to ruin it but are there any after market exhusts available that may add a little torque ( not that it is lacking anything) and is it worth fitting a K&N the next time i service it?

No aftermarket exhausts...only custom builds.

I have a Poweflow exhaust...like to think its added some power...probably all in my head tho knowing me :dunno:  Looks good tho and hasnt done anything bad to my fuel consumption? (OK, well it has...but its my fault...i floor it everywhere now just to hear it *dreams*)

O and i have K&N too...well not now...did have, but swapped it, and its as good as the K&N...as for power...again, probably all in that little head of mine ;)

At £400 i think the majority of us mere normal peeps wait till our exhausts have fallen off!! But to be fair...majority of garages charge around £200 for the cat back fully fitted...lasts for what? 5 years? So in 10 years you pay as much as you would for a SS which has a lifetime guarantee. Ideal if you are planning on keeps, plus you choose your tone and your bore!! ;)

yeah, i plan to keep it so long as it stays reliable, i only bought it because my off roader was costing me £75 a week to run to work and back so the volvo has to stay cheep and reliable but i do see the exhaust as an investment. Besides i can always sell the zorst on if i have to scrap the car.

Yup a custom SS exhaust is ...well... you know the saying about rocking horse poo lol

With a bit of TLC the 480 is a good 'un-basically, you look after it, it looks after you! As safe as your 4x4 no doubt but nicer on the pocket...well at least as far as fuel goes...not knowing what model your 4x4 is i cant say about the cost of spares!!!

Both my 4x4's are pajero's i have a 240 BHP 3.5 V6 24v GDI which is the "best" car and i also have a 170 BHP 3L V6 swb MK2 convertable pajero ( J top) which has a 2" suspension lift and a 2" body lift and a few other trick bits .
I ran pajerouk for 4 years until january this year when i stepped down to start up my own web site ( northern-monkey-offroad.com) So i can get cheep parts for the paj no problem at all. I will probably use german, swedish&french car parts to get my volvo parts unless you lot tell me otherwise ;)
