good evening ladies an gents

hi im new on here.

i own a renault 5 gt turbo

wich im putting a volvo 480 turbo engine in to.

just after sum advice tbh

on tuning and engine parts readaly avaliable.

im intrested in a cam if they make 1
advice on injectors
turbo fitments

my car currently weighs 600kg
and im aiming for 240 bhp

any advice wud b gratefull plz

no i have an engine thanks ( altho the cambelt has snapped )

wich is good news as its an excuse to have head werk lol

Lol they all come with a cam :lol: Do you mean a fast road cam/racing cam?

If so, i believe they are only custom order. Smooth480 has had his reground but his is an NA. If you have the money, take your standard cam to Kent Cams and ask their advice (Think Smooth said his was a kent cam jobby...:dunno:)

May I suggest the search function?
There you can find more info, but in short Cat cams in Belgium and Dbilas in Germany have cams for the Renault F-series engine.

esta's right its a kent fast road cam -- its make the engine a little lumpy on cold starts and certainly improved the pick up im not sure its added much bhp but the torque has improoved and i get a shed load of torque steer now on full throttle launches :D

hey ppl.

ive finally got my 480 turbo lump in my 5. its all plumbed up idles fine

but it wnt rev past 3.5k any ideas

I reckon you need a new engine ;)



Seriously though ..... what fuel pump are you using? ISTR renault boys finding the renault pump was not even remotely capable of pumping enough fuel.
Have you done any mods yet, or is it runnign like this with the engine standard?



And please don't take this the wrong way, but are you sure you have got the timing is correct after repairing the cambelt snap?
Also The renault engines cylinder numbers go backwards (from the gearbox 1,2,3,4 to the cambelt end) for some bizarre reason which on one occasion meant _someone_ put their plug leads on wrong! It ran, but not well, much as you describe.

haha well were do i start

first probs were yes u guesed it plug leads wrong order.

But it didnt get better.

then my sparkie found that there wasnt a live going to the airflow meter.
a bullrt conector poped off so thats fixed.

it starts an runs fine

it hasnt got a thermostat in at the moment so doesnt get above 80 degrees wen driving on a motor way

BUT HERES MY NEXT PROBLEM,

start it up let her get warm an drive it it goes like stink, BUT

once it gets up to say 50 degrees it dosnt want to go past 3k. pops bang or just cuts untill i lett of the rite foot.

it has the original temp sensor. just to block the hole up

i have a water temp take off on the top hose to give me my actual water temp on a brand new guage

the water temp sensor that feeds the ecu is in and wired up. does any 1 have a way of testing to c if its wrking corectly.

wat ohms or volts shud i be seeing on a multimeter

the hole in the head feeds the ecu has 2wires brown plug may be?
