what boost should i expect
hi, been searching forum for boost questions but dont really know wherther that applies to me so apologize for gowing over old ground
i have 89 turbo which has richmod, never taken out for any distance until today but dont know what boost pressure i should expect, it goes about a quarter into yellow or about 12oclock looking at gauge,any help and rectifications would be great.

right all vacuum pipes seem to be fit and healthy,after reading other posts it says that top pipe on boost solonoid should go to actuator but mine does not it sits on centre pipe on solonoid. mine has 2 black and a yellow pipe which is connected to bottom of boost solonoid is this also wrong? i guess these have been messed with. my boost gauge in car sits at zero when car running and only raises slightly when pressing throttle and doesnt move near yellow until actually driving , is this normal?what is the best way to test actuator,i can actually move the rod on actuator

how much boost
hi all,just taken car out again to see if it was me me not booted it enough but still turbo gauge only goes a quarter in to yellow ,i have taken red pipe off the boost solonoid valve(actuator) and took out again and this time tried to break my neck with boost and gauge went all the way round to red but eased before before red incase it cut out ,if this helps with any clues to what my problem is , cheers

hi, yes im am sure it is modded ,i did send it to him a while ago and really havent tried it until recently ,i did get a chip in return which i assume was chip he had replaced.
i dont get full boost at all just about quarter into yellow no matter what gear or rev range im in. just really puzzled at moment now.

hi again,sorted my boost problem out today i removed all turbo pipes ,the maf,recirc valve ,the boost solonoid valve,the hoses to the turbo and cleaned them all,i replaced the recirc valve as it happens i found a spare in the garage from 440 turbo,and also boost solonoid valve yet another spare and well nightmare putting it all back together,i found a split in the hose coming from maf to turbo which i assume was causing some probs or maybe replacing recirc valve and boost solonoid cured low boost ,but i am now happy and suffering from whiplash,cheers all

split pipe was the reason it wouldnt boost, ecu detected a lean mixture and went into saftey mode (back to standard). any problems like that and the ecu will return to standard as a safety precaution.
