Aibast - crazyfrog project (ex t2 vs t25)

Post by aibast » Wed Aug 22, 2007 11:24 am

Cos this info is all over the place I made a new thread. After RichModing my 480 the T2 on the engine gave its last strugles and now leaks oil on the exhaust side. So A new one is going in there.

I got T25G fom Nissan CA20DET ( I think that was it)
I just got my dad to make the needed flanges to it. DIG welded the intake side and MIG'ed the exhaust. T25G is AR .80 intake AR .64 hot side.

I know they cost some, but still got a discount on them, being a member in local Volvoclub has some good sides. Also have used a B group exhaust gasgets on some cars they all burn out quick. But original Volvo ones last realy long.
PS. I saved so much money on my new turbo and the RichMod in stead of the other options that new original gasgets will not burn a hole in my budget for the tuning.

Would it be possible to list those Volvo part numbers, and where the gaskets go? I can see where the two big ones go, but not sure about the little ones!

Cheers

Ok, the job is done, it was hard as hell took me and my friend 7 hours to get that T25G in there. But man it was worth it. Boost up just like I wanted it. Low pressure from around 1500 rpm but the boost comes on with the RichMod kicking in from around 3000 rpm. Man I love it. Feels more like a T5R now  And the added bonus why I changed out the turbo the first place. The intake doesn't heat up any more :) Before with T2 the intake manifold was hot after driving the car and boosting around a lot. Now you car grab the intake ant is feels cold - no more heatsoked intercooler. + the car just loves high revs now :)

T25G in there. It sound cool with the stock By-Pass

I also tinted the rear windows :)

Can't wait to get mine on, with its 12psi spring actuator, vs the standard 2.5psi wobbly old thing.

hi like ur thinking just waned to know if u have done anything else to ur engine b4 u upgraded the turbo minus the rich mod.
and who do i talk to about having a rich mod done and what is it exactly? im assuming it makes the fuel air ratio different /richer

i ask because im gone be taking my engine out and want to unleash the power it should of had in the first place

is urs still going good?

Mine would be still going go if I hadn't got a bad turbo. But when this happened I desided to do some head work also on the engine. It was bone stock before that, handles the power realy well, RichMod just takes to boost higher to 0,9 bar and that is mostly it. I think from personal experience that getting more power from a B18FT is way easyer than on B230FT on 700/900 series turbos. And the engine is also stronger. The T25G has a lag that nicely compliments the moded 'ECU. As it starts to blow 0,9 bar around 2800-2900 rpm. Powerband after the bigger turbo with richmod is nice and smooth as the original one was to harsh when the mod kicked in. @ the moment have grinded smooth the channels in the head. Not a lot of work there. The main problem on the flow was port matching on the intake manifold and the head. The casting in there is so bad, you would never ever belive how much material I removed from the manifold. The first thing before moding your car for more power is Stage 0. Thats the most important thing. Make sure everything works good.

was there enuf of a manifold to be ground out to match the inlet ports as the ilistration dipicts a thin manifold tubing

can the exhaust sides be ported as easly as the inlet ?

could u post a pic of the modded inlet manifold

looking good man like the thinking sorry to hear about the bunkem turbo :( gutted !

oh and last but not least is there a chance of a 16v head i know this might possibly change the fuel swurl in cahamber for the worst on a turbo but just wanted to consider the possibilitly as food for thought

keep on truking dude :hopping:

no 16V head, sorry. But yeah, there is enough material in the manifold to do this. The exhaust side is good and doesn't need any modding. You can do it if you want to go insane on the head and ports. I just wanted to remove what restricted the flow. Now I need only an oilpipe adapter for a new turbo and then all back together. Even got my new head bolts.

With or without the B18E cam?

If you can't made the dynorun, just record a good sound quality clip of the acceleration in 2nd gear from idle till the red at full throttle.
I can made a well educated guess of your HP then.(should be around 190hp)

The 16V head seems to fit only the B18U and B20F blocks. Due to the oil bore and cylinder bores from what I've read.

havent got a B18E cam yet, but still the head is in pieces :D I need to get a 11mm socket for my torque wrech so that I can but the cam cariers on. So who knows. If I get the cam in next few days then it will be the E cam, other than that the stock turbo one. I'll record a video when the car is ready and running, hope it will happen in januari. I got to take new pics, cos I polished the turbo up nice and shiny, a bit of bling bling for the go also ;)

I'm hopeing its around 160-170 hp.
