T2 or T25
have seen a turbo of 96 and 89
Dude they only made these cars up to 95
--------------------edit------
ok, once more
I saw B18FT's with two different (original) turbochargers. One was from 89 and the other from 96 (date on the turbo). The exhaust side looks different and i want to know what is the main different. A guy in another forum told me that the early one's have T20 and the late one's have T25 chargers? Is this correct?

Ok I've screwed something up here, I've pressed the edit button for some reason, left my PC, come back thinking I was replying and thought I had quoted the post so I removed the parts I didn't want in the quote. The part that says ‘Dude they only made them up to 95’ was actually me, I didn't notice until now when I was wandering where my post went. Oh well he can ask again when he is next online.

it has one.DaKyy wrote:They should all be T20's. Maybe the early type had different exhaust side because it didn't have a catalyser?
I would take picture's in here, but i can't (at least 10 Posts). The newer one looks like John's (post: "JT's 'FCW' Restoring Project and T25 turbo upgrade" , the picture with the two Turbos's. The left one looks like the 96er of me).

@Braend – Pics added
@Mart – The mod does not work that way, it is designed to stop spammers posting pics and links to websites, this can not be altered for individual users. Also its usually Big Brother that does the evicting, not the other way around
@Ryan – You are the first one to make that joke

i think what you have identified is the mythical 'early type elbow'
the early turbos have a 90 degree elbow connecting the turbine outlet to the downpipe. on the later ones this bend is (slightly less conventionally) cast into the exhaust housing assembly of the turbo.
AFAIK the turbos themselves are very similar/identical but the early elbow lends itself to adding a larger turbo and connecting to a standard downpipe.
both are T2's and i believe the A/R etc are still the same, right guys?

Yes....as mentioned above, look at my thread in "tuning and tweaking".
Both turbos are "t2". As far as i know, all that changed in 1991 was the exhaust housing. It changed from 2 pieces to one piece.
I've heard it said that his improved flow slightly.
The rest is the same...i know this because that steveR chap changed an early turbo for a late one, or vice versa. There were some subtle differences with the oil fittings too, but that was only different in terms of drilling/tapping.
As someone also mentioned...the early elbow is useful for fitting a t25...something that i've just finished plumbing in.

I'll go from here..
I'v bought a post '91 turbo to fit on my '90 coz it's housing is cracked.
is it a direct swap on manifold and axhaust? since it's different downpipe elbow..
i know for oilpipes, but not sure about fitings.
