it works fine. The strut brace improves the handling. The body feels much stiffer.

A must do for an old 480 !

Do you have some technical drawings of this strut bar?

Yes, i´m cruel ;)

I´ve spend a lot hours to build some strutbraces for different engine types of the 480. They are almost all different.

Then i would have to make a few drawings.

But why ? 5 minutes of your own time and someone who would lasercut the rings for you.

laser cut or water jet the rings, buy some tubing, get some welding classes if you don't know how, get a welding machine, cover the engine, but the rings in place, measure the stuff, cut, tack them in place, remove when done, weld properly, grind off what needed, cover with primer, cover with paint, but back on the car, shut the hood - you are done.

That is a nice thing.

Doesn´t look like it´s made special for the 480 ( because of the holes), but fit´s fine !

And looks good !

strut brace

Post by V480TI » Sun Dec 06, 2009 10:42 pm

Someone made a series of these strutbraces, I thought this chap came from Belgium, but it's long ago.
I also had one, but welding and holes weren't quality made.

BTW : nice cooling liquid reservoir

o.k., never heared that story before.

But be aware, when starting this project on cars with ABS MarkIV. You don´t have much space :D
