Yeh I know. Seen it in various stages of build it's just I was up a couple weeks ago and it was back in the car! Apparently it's been in and out quite a bit though!

My GOD!

What kind of boost does he want?
Looks like he's going to need 2 injectors per cilinder
Forged rods?
Forged pistons?
Forged crank?

Or are you trying to see how far and how fast this engine can spit out the pistons?

Hope all is going to work though... LOL

Hi,

as far as I know does he want to run the engine with 2.5 to 3 bar of boost pressure, the pistons are ceramic coated to withstand the thermal exposure, in fact of the rods and the crank I don´t know exactly if they´re forged but the rods are balanced and new bearings are fitted.

Cheers

Yeah, I second that- although frightening is another word that comes to mind!

380bhp- that's the most pessimistic estimate!!!

Well the huge underbonnet fire should be a dead giveaway.

It won't leak for a while, all the seals are new, everything refurbished, and with a much bigger crankcase breather system.

Being truthfull anything that is going to go wrong is going to be explosive, and easily detected.

Only about 2.5 to 3 bar.
hjkort wrote: Looks like he's going to need 2 injectors per cilinder
No I have some deforming disc type injectors, rated at 760cc/min at 3 bar. They open and close about three times the speed of the standard injectors, so it shouldn't be a problem.
hjkort wrote: Forged rods?

Pistons are forged as std, and reworked to lower the compression. They are then ceramic coated to increase the sterength, and also provide a heat barrier.

The crank and rods where tested by a mech eng firm, and are strong enough, as long as there isn't repeated heavy detonation (would bugger the rest of the engine as well). The head is also ceramic coated, so as to reduce the heat load on the cooling system, as well as resist high temperatures / moderate detonation.

That is always a possibility, I hope it works too. If not then I may as well have poured massive ammounts of money into a hole, and set it on fire.

And yes before anyone says, I know it could all go horribly wrong. I'm ready for that to happen, though I may not be happy about it if it does. I'm not silly enough to ignore the possibility.

It's going to take a while to get that power, the ECU needs to be re-mapped, and that's going to be done slowly, and with care. I have the basics for up to 2 bar ish. From there it's going to take plenty of time, so that I don't damage the engine.

No problem with the questions. Glad to help out :)

I'm not saying how much, but the pipework to connect the turbo and all the other bits together is over 1k.

Some over engeneering has also gone into the project, but that should act as insurance for minor mishaps. The thing is to not get too adicted to turning the boost up and blow the whole thing to bits. It needs to be done slowly in managable steps. That may be something I need to watch out for :)

I'll hapily share the details with anyone who wants to duplicate the project, but my initial advise would be don't.
