Dampers and springs

Post by Garry » Tue Dec 23, 2025 3:33 pm

Hello there

I recently baught a Volvo 480 turbo. Since I have to change my dampers soon anyway (they leak a bit and are onthere since forever) im looking into some sporty options. I have found this set.
K.A.W. PlusKit Sportfahrwerk für Volvo 480 Coupe 2250-1000-CO
https://www.kaw-fahrwerke.eu/K-A-W--Plu ... anguage=de
Does anyone know if they are any good? I have never heard of the brand so I wondered if anyone knows them. I am open for other options that are available too. Im not looking for anything crazy just a set of sporty dampers and lowering springs. It would be optimal if they had an inspection sheet and were allowed in switzerland.
Thanks for any answers.

Hi, Garry

I have the exact suspention kit as you mentioned, the springs and absorbers.

I recieved them with TUV so they were the "only" option for me just because of that reason.
The ride is OK, but nothing sporty. In one of my threads there is a link to a YT video where you can see how much travel it allows.
They are quite soft, well too soft for me to be honest.
The springs are decent but the shock absorbers are too soft for sure. I have quite a bit wider wheels and rolled arches but when driving on bad roads the wheels will sometimes hit the chassis.

Id buy them from the inspection and later change the absorbers, also if you will be fitting lower springs the Panhard needs to be shortened.
For comfortable daily driving OK, For getting some "sportiness" out of the car NO

Thanks for the reply. I use the car as a weekend car for some sporty driving. So the dampers are not really suited for my needs. Do you know what sporty dampers you can combine with the lowering springs from KWE?

What wheels do you run Optimistic?
