more boost

Post by haz@nocturnal_development » Mon Aug 07, 2006 11:29 am

i'm back from the USC weekend at santa pod and i've given it a few tweeks and running slighty more boost. best time this weekend was a 12.6 with a slightly quicker terminal of 110mph.

although i think we're near the limit of the original ecu's, especially due to the low rev limit and no way of altering it, i'm still pleased with the progress. time to invest in some stand alone ecu's and get mapping, ready for some events next year.

my apologies to the owners of the skyline, cossie, civic, bmw, evo and others i ran against who thought my car was a heap. better luck next time

when are some quick volvo's gonna make an appearance??

Are you gunna DIY it with megasquirt? or go with a brand name ecu? dizzyless?

anyway sounds like you had some good results at USC, nice one :D

cheers bud. not sure as yet but i think i'll be using a DTA system, seems to be user friendly and i've seen some good results. megasquirt just seem to be and expensive add on, not a fully mappable package, but i may be wrong.

just cant wait for 2 things, to bin the afm with its leak type niggles, and to rev to 7200+. a guy in the know recons that with the same spec engine but with an extra 1000 revs it'll make a 40bhp gain, then there's ignition and cam timing mods too for more.

just gotta raise funds first :(

What about piggy back system (like greedy e-manage), wouldn't it be able to help a bit..like replacing revcounter and etc??

Or 480 ECU then will compleatly shut down engine if it sees such a thing messing his mind?

my ecu's don't see much, just what we want it to ;)
the ecu's have been tricked as much as possible, with the main problem being the rev limit. overboost is using a piggy back system atm which he can alter the values of the fuel ecu to allow full mapability of the fuel ecu and he's already sorted the timing ecu. the rev limit is still in situ tho.

i've spoken to rich reguarding the limit as it appears a few customers now have higher revs, but it seems that is a by-product of his mod, not something he can just change, then the ecu has problems higher up as there is no map for the ecu's to relate to :(

i feel that any extra time spent sqeezing a tad more power from them would be better spent on a full re-mapp, as i want a lot more power not just what it can cope with.

i'm aiming for group b specs, something that is too fast for the road, something scary to drive :D

me too

think it may be a while off tho, savin for the DTA and some bigger injectors, then it'll take a while to map up. hopefully have it sorted over the next few months as i want to get crackin on the next project ;)

a bit like that, but i couldn't change as many gaskets as sparkie has.
that is one lovely motor, i'd be tempted if it was righthand drive and had a cheaper price tag, maybe one day.
your thinkin along the right lines tho ;)

Acutally John it's a mate of ours ;) called Sparkie i grew up with him and both have a need for speed

That Turbo 2, he's had some fun with it getting it running correctly, gorg car though and damn noisey!
Sparkie's the only man i know that's changed a head gasket on a car on the motorway hard shoulder and then continued his journey as if nothing happened

 sparkie's nuts. he's the only bloke i know who changes the headgasket on the way to most events. i believe he had to change one in a supermarket car park while travelling round france.

You could save the pictures to your harddrive and upload them onto photobucket? Seems the easiest way of doing it!

i'll give up on postin the photo links, sorry chaps.

update on the ecu's tho, currently looking into the adaptronic system. its more cost effective than the dta with the added features of learning once its been set-up.
roll on more revs and more power :hopping:
