480 Lookalike ?

We've been trawling old magazine archives looking for 480 adverts - I did a double take when I saw this USA offering from 1990



is it just me or does that look like a rounded version of a 480 cabrio ?
especially when you see one with black stripes



the interior is also very similar in the front



although the back isn't

That’s a Ford Capri - basically a Mazda underneath I think.
I agree, there are definite similarities with the front end. Even the steering wheel looks similar.

I’m surprised that’s a US advert as they never sold them outside of Australia and NZ

Maybe another car that couldn't be made cheaply enough for America.

developed in Aus, was going to be destined for the US market, however, in 1990, Mazda launched a certain convertible that pretty much decimated the market.....
