Possible 480 in Cranberries vid

When you spot a 480 and wonder if it's someone from the forum: ask it here! One rule: do NOT post registration plates.

Possible 480 in Cranberries vid

Post by David » Sun Apr 30, 2017 12:54 am

Don't know how I spotted this but I think there is a 480 in this old video by the band The Cranberries. Skip to about 3.30 and you will see a Mazda 323F, a Ford Fiesta and, what looks like, a Volvo 480. It's the shape of the bonnet that gives it away I think.

I see what you mean but that isn't a 480 :(

If you look carefully it has a boot - it's a saloon I think; one of the Hondas from that era perhaps?

Well, I am not sure what else it could be. It looks suspiciously like a 480 to me :)

I'm confused :?

The mazda in the foreground with the pop up lights, yeah, I think, but fiesta and 480? I'm not sure what the middle car is but I don't think it's a fiesta and is it the car right at the back that we're saying is the suspected 480? Because I think that's a beemer and whatever it is I don't think it's a 480. It is hard to make out though, the resolution's not great is it. The only thing I saw that made me think remotely 480 in that clip was the glimpse of the side of the white car that drives past on the right and I wondered whether this was what you were on about, but watching it back, I'm not convinced by that either, although that is a really difficult call, you barely catch a glimpse of it and it almost could be but I don't think it is.

Perhaps I'm confused too - as far as I can tell there is a Mazda 323f in the foreground, then something that I agree with Ade I don't think is a Fiesta but I am not sure what it is. Then there is a BMW 3 series.

If we are talking about the white car that comes slowly past I don't think that is a 480: the bonnet appears to cut off to a square front (ie traditional headlight etc set-up) the centre pillar isn't wide enough for the two broad plastic strips on a 480, there is no orange reflector on the rear quarter and I still think it has a bit of boot (albeit like the Ford Escort/Sierra type hatch style).

Or am I talking about the wrong car?

You are right and I stand corrected. This is a BMW, early 90s 3 series by the look of it.

It's just the likes of those M's and 335's, 540's etc that are still a problem.... won't be once the 'sleeper' lives though :D I'll then be able to identify those at a distance too....

Part of my teenage... So sad she had to pass away that soon.

I love the Citroën SM. Would kill for one with injection engine.

There's this Spanish guy making nice reports of classic. You have to love a SM! In Spanish :
