At the French 480 club rally last year, someone was late leaving for a display and picked up a 'stray' 480 on the way - the driver explained that he wasn't a member and knew nothing about the meet, just spotted this latecomer going into a tiny seaside town and decide to follow it for a chat wherever it parked. He was totally bemused to find himself parking on the promenade at the end of a row of more than 30 480's, and then able to chat to John de Vries.


On the way home, we got off the ferry and pulled in for fuel, parking our 2 480's next to the car wash. Totally amazed to come out after paying to see a 3rd 480 parked next to us (haven't seen one by chance for years) Sadly, the stranger was in very poor shape - the owner was Italian, living in London but relocating to Italy and trying to sell the car. I suspect it ended up as spare parts.

Would be interested in an adventure abroad in the 480 this year Sylvia. If you hear of any other meets in Europe for the 480 from other clubs, I would be pleased to hear about them

Hello James,
The French club are having a meet in Belgium (probably Brussels) the weekend of 8th 9th and 10th September. I'll pass on details as soon as I get them.
They have a good system whereby the meets are organised by a different member each year, so it's not all left to one person every year. Last year's was excellent - lots of friendly French owners as well as a contingent of Dutch and Belgian ones from Club Europe.
If anyone other Brits fancy a trip across the water, let me know and I'll supply details.
