white 480 1700?

When you spot a 480 and wonder if it's someone from the forum: ask it here! One rule: do NOT post registration plates.

Spotted Cranna's very tidy looking White 480 with 16" alloys at Alford on Sunday

hiding between rain showers!

i used to have 55 profiles on my 15" ronals, those look like 50's or even 45's! the 55's fill the arches the same as 16" wheels with the tyres i have on, but just fills it a little better thanks to the larger wheel :)

mines on bilstein shocks and spax -40 springs at the moment too and i've got a set of forged pistons sitting it home for it from prima racing... planning a diy turbo conversion! haha

Looked alright on my lowered 480 Celeb:

They'll be going back on that 460 once it's been hit with the lowering stick

Cheers.

Was supposed to be 40mm with Gmax springs, always thought it looked more like 50 though, especially at the back.

It's 'was' rather than 'is' as it's now being broken due to epic tinworm :(

I took on DIS's 480 hoping to do a restoration job...

Tin worm is bad all around back end, basically - boot floor and all underneath there at the back behind bumper etc (body, not just that panel that always rusts), rear arches outer and inner, cills both outer and inner completely gone at the back end, floor under passenger compartment...

In that last photo you can see a mark on the side just in front of the right hand rear wheel arch - that is now all dropping off completely of its own accord, and where it has bee filled all around the arch and looks good in that photo is now all blistering and coming away as well.

Almost finished removing all I can/seems worth removing.

BTW my first 480 (bought back in 1991) was a 1988 white one with black bumpers so yours brings back memories!

Erm... Yeah, what He said!

Basically, I bought the car off here about 6 years ago.
It had beed 'restored,' but that basically meant epic amounts of filler everywhere, sprayed badly by Stevie Wonder, in the dark. Looked alright when I bought it though.
Not the previous owner's fault like, he'd paid someone to do the work, and they'd done a piss poor job.
After I'd hammered it around for 5 years I parked it up when the front brakes gave up, fully intending to sort them and the rest of the car out, but I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't have time to ever sort it properly, so offered it up on here and a couple of other forums as a free project.
David took it on, but on investigation it's just too far gone, so is being broken. Fair enough.

Gutted, but I'm getting over it now.
I still have the Ronals though, they'll be going on that silver 460T Jamesy posted above. That one's currently a hovercraft on my drive!

The 480 also looked pretty cool on dark Taurus wheels with 195/50 profile tyres...

Brakes are brand new all round, or at least were when I fitted them about a year ago.
Just as ridiculously small as all 400 series brakes!

Always up for a quick polish, me! ;)

i had my thing painted last summer and the lad did a shoddy job of it, so now this winter i'll have to part with even more cash just to get his mess sorted before the car starts deteriorating again!

i really fancy a 460T as a daily driver, just can't find any haha! my ES only has around 62k on it, she's really really fresh underneath! i did notice a tiny little paint bubble on a sill though! :(

however i'll get that buffed off and treated/painted ect this winter when she's in for paint, i'm also getting the bumpers sprayed satin black (1. because covered in overspray thanks to dodgy spray job, 2. i can't afford to buy that much back to black... haha) i'm also getting the plate mounting boss's removed and smoothed over too, for that whole hellaflush car scene thing haha!

aye but I couldn't find you to ask about what was under the bonnet, and too sodding wet to crawl underneath :-)

took me a wee while to twig on lack of 'rubbing straiks'

ours is fairly rust free but paint (red) is faded as h***. . . . so needs a good going with rubbing compound but the bonnet is a wee bit white near the front so can't chance any more buffing! ALDI's red is a fairly good match on the rear arches but not on the front wings at the mud-flaps area
