6x9's in the boot - and fotos to show construction ...

Post by piper1st » Fri Aug 12, 2005 11:59 am

Further to Bens inspiring posting ... i'd like to show you all my infinity 6x9's installed into the boot.

I did this over several days … I first made the shelf only to realise that there was then no access to the boot. :eek: I then adapted the shelf with a hole for that reason.

Thanks to you Ben, I finally got the carpet from Maplin (mottled cloth) and think it looks rather good … definitely hard wearing!! :wink:

Enjoy the pics …

Here is a list of the materials i used ...

Wood = MDF (B&Q)
Speakers = Infinity 9603I - 100 watt RMS 3 way.6"x9" loudspeaker (www.bassjunkies.com)
covering = mottled cloth (maplin electronics)
handle = kitchen cupboard handle (ikea)
hindges = standard hindges (B&Q)
stoppers = these stop the shelf falling through (B&Q)

Ross V

P.S. the speakers are on offer today on the web-site ...

Thats a proper tidy job, very impressive. Not too sure about the handle, but the rest looks pukka. Looks like a proper professional factory made job!

Good work :D

That looks really neat, top marks! Although i'm not to sure about the handle. I would have just made a small hole or something like that.

I would have used a tail gate handle off a spares/scrap 480. I'm covering my new bass box in a load cover with the volvo badge on :D

I sealed my clusters last week and so far the carpet and boot have been bone dry even with it raining and washing the car a few times.

My roller blind doesn’t retract anyway so it does look quite a mess just lying ontop of stuff in the boot, this would be great, new cd player going in too.

don't know really, its just the cost of the CAT 1 Alarm DVD player and the plasma screen really, oh and the time someone scraped down the side. Probable about £3600 give a hundred quid or so

Jee Adam, i'm upto ... erm ... around £800!! i've some catching up!! hehe. :rofl:

Yeah, the shelf is not fixed in, just fits snug in place. It was sheer luck that the B&Q MDF is cut to almost the perfect width AND length size anyway!! it's width is 122cm so all you need to do is cut the curve out! look at the pic's again ... very easy!!

My boot seems dry, sometimes the rain runs in when i have the boot open, but nothing extreme!

where in aberdeenshire you from atex61?!

You ought to flush it in at th edges, around the bumps where that the setbelts come out from.

Yeah, they were the second pair ... the covering i used (maplin) is quite thick and the first set didn't last long before there was some handle snapping action! :lol:
