Hi, if you are sure that the air is passing through the 710N valve, then maybe the ICV is stuck closed.

But if it wasn't this new recirculation valve that caused the low idle, then we are just guessing now - it could be other things too....injectors, etc., worth a try to clean the ICV anyway. Take it off and clean it with some carb cleaner or similar, then check to see if the internals move.

I put everything back to original... I didn't really like how this works, probably better off removing the whole idle control setup and start it off with a low idle and get to about 900rpm when it's warm

I gave the idle control motor and the diaphragm valve a good clean with some carb cleaner and it seems ok, although my problem was when I ran it hard it would idle at about 1200rpm, but I haven't had a chance to try it out on the road.

Anyway....

Unfortunately I didn't like this mod so can't really suggest it to anyone

yes I'm not 100% convinced either. I will report back when I change the temp sensor.

BUT

did we not just solve the old argument of whether to use a dump valve or recirc valve around the turbo for pressure relief during gear changes & overrun?? If the recirc valve is partially open during idle/low loads, then won't that let the turbo spin up a little faster?? The dump valve is just a relief so the turbo is starting to spin into a closed system, unlike the recirc which has an open path back to the inlet to the turbo. Err I think))

plus the dump valve style is said to confuse the ECU as MAF readings are wrong.
Just my thoughts could be a load of.....shikaka! (as Ace Ventura once said)

yeah the atmospheric dump valve isn't any good for the B18FT since it has a MAF meter.. I learnt this the hard way cos I had bought one and since I had it fitted it started going rich and having idle and running problems then I realised it's all due to the dump valve messing up the MAF reading so I changed it back to the original one and everything was back to normal...

I have saved all images from this thread; as the admin of this forum currently refuses to delegate any tasks and does not take action himself, I have to resort to putting all images in this posting. I hope I have put them in correct order.
