Door pods
When I first had my 480 I decided to uprate the sound system by changing the speakers and adding amplification.
I did this and was happy with the result but I decided it was time for a change.
I saw a "how to" from Red and was inspired to take action.
I needed door pods to house some Boston pro 6" and 4" speakers.
The first thing I did was to make a template from card then transfer it
to 12mm MDF .
Then I cut two rings using a jig saw.A router would be better but if you
take your time its OK.
As you can see I have removed material to help set the anlgles and used
blocks to set the height.I used a hot glue gun here.
Both pods were at this stage so now the fun part.Using an old T shirt I
carefully streched over the form and stapled into position.
Having done this I coated the material with resin and left to harden.
Now comes the messy part. I covered using two layers of fibre glass
matting .This is to say the least a right carry on!
As you can see I then covered in filler .I also set into position on a bed
of filler after masking the doorcards. This process takes time and after
much sanding ,filling etc its ready for covering.
Fixing I made some iron brackets and welded studs .Photos to come
Hope you like

Re: Door pods
Hi Kev, can I ask you a newbie question about the wiring for your project? I think there is a little tweeter in the door by the handle, do you need to branch of from your speakers to wire this in? Or does it only make a sound when I'm indicating? Thanks again!

Re: Door pods
the indicator buzzer is in the cem. the tweeters branch of from the speakers but you will need a high pass crossover in the line to prevent the lower freguencies from getting there.
you can buy them or make one

the variable resistor is there to adjust the tweeter volume, its the series wired capacitors that stop the low notes from getting through.
