Idle Control Valve (ICV)

I know this is a very basic job, but quite often ruling out the basics is the best way to fault find and hopefully this “how-toâ€

But the ultimate question...

Did it solve any lumpy idle issues? Again, nice work there. Makes me want a 480 to work on  :(

Done this two weeks ago because my car had lumpy idle issues and usually at the second lump it would turn off. Now it doesn´t turn off, but the idle is still a bit lumpy between 800 -1200 rpm, but i'm hoping it is the lambda sensor.
One major difference i noticed was that the car is smoother to drive, when changing gears. Before doing this to the ICV, revs would fall very fast, now when changing gears revs drop right where they should for the next gear. Great DIY.

Regards

There are a number of mechanical devices which increase sexual arousal, particularly in women. Chief among these is the Volvo 480 ;)

Okay, I followed this how to & got loads of muck out of my ICV. Obviously needed doing. Thanks again for the guide.

Unfortunately, in may case it did not solve my lumpy idle completely.

So having searched around I found another thing to check that I thought may be of use & worthy of a mench'

Is there any change to get the "how to do" back again?
It would be a great help :)

Don't suppose anyone can add the text to the pictures.

Is it just a case of removing the ICV, spraying carb cleaner into the ICV via the two pipe connections, and cleaning out the residue with the kitchen roll/cotton buds?

Thanks for any pointers.

Looking at the pictures I would say yes.

When I did mine I ended up taking it apart as just cleaning it as you discribe made no difference. However having taken it apart and from memory having all sorts of fun putting it back together it still made no difference as my idle fault ended up being elsewhere.
