G600DPJ 480 Turbo

Hello,
Starting a thread about my new toy. It's a very nice 1990 Turbo Auto which I've had for a few weeks now.
I have a list of jobs already and am slowly working through them.








As far as I can see she needs the following.
Engine Undertray
Bonnet sound deadening / insulation - done
Headlight bracket (I stupidly broke one)
Passenger door central locking repairing
Long range driving lamp aim setting
Heated seats fixing
Dashboard dimmer switch replacing

I have already replaced the wiper stalk, pop up light struts, and repaired the tape deck (head needed cleaning and aligning).

She's booked into a Volvo specialist in the new year for a coolant change, and auto box oil change as a precaution.

Looking forward to getting out on some meets next year.

Was thinking about this only this morning.... Is it as tedious as I suspect? there's no access to the adjusters once the lamps are in place I presume?

Yes, a bit of a nightmare. Easier to remove, adjust and replace. Then try again
I reckon you could do it in situ if you had small hands..or a special tool.

Just had a full service, including coolant and gearbox oil change at Volmech my local indy in Stockton.

They couldn't find any spark plugs to fit it but I'm not fussed as I have a set at home & they said they didn't need changing anyway as it hasn't done many miles since they were last changed.

Can't wait for the weather to improve and get the salt washed off the roads so I can take her out again.

Replaced the headlight dampers yesterday....again.
Initially replaced the old ones with ones I got from SGS Engineering, but the headlights seemed to struggle, and had a little extra push when they were 3/4 up, so we're not very smooth at all.

I decided to bite the bullet and order some from Volvo fan in Poland.
They arrived after about 2 weeks, and I must say they are so much better than the sgs ones, definitely worth waiting for.
Headlights operate up and down better and are silky smooth.

Can I just ask - has it had that plate from new?

Also, eBay is full of NGK ZGR5B so your specialist didn't look too hard. Even with specialists, you have to invest the ground work yourself because it isn't worth their time to search.... and you can understand that to a certain extent.

I've no idea whether it's had the same plate from new unfortunately Jay. I have only had the car a few months.
I think so, but couldn't confirm.

Unfortunately unless they're in stock at Volvo or Euro car parts they don't look much further. I have a set of plugs in stock, so not really bothered about it.

Ooh looking forward to that, what was the theme? Must say that is eclectic!

There wasn't really a theme. He wanted to take a shot of all the cars together, but also took loads of the cars on their own with their owners.
He said it would be a car of the month sort of thing. A bit impromptu really, they put a message on Facebook and asked for people in Teesside to show what interesting cars they may be interested in for a slot in an upcoming mag, as they were in the area interviewing someone. I posted a pic of mine and I got an email asking me to attend the photo shoot if I could spare the time.
