So final bits of work done today - the faulty horn turned out to be a loose connection behind the steering wheel, so easily sorted :D .

Given that these cars are rescues, and not restorations, R6 has been taken as far as she is going to go by the Rescue Group. Having said that she is not a restoration, nonetheless she is now in an amazing condition compared to how she was on first coming into our care - a look through the early posts in this thread and comparison with the last few from me show just how far she has come. This transformation has been achieved, of course, through a great many hours of effort not to mention the expenditure of a considerable amount of money - most of which went on having the rusty bits sorted out and an almost complete re-spray.

So now it is time for R6, or Nikela as she has been named (given the NKL in her number plate) to move on to pastures news. She needs a loving new owner to drive and enjoy her, and perhaps carry on the good work. As she stands she would make any (aspiring or existing but looking to expand) 480 owner proud, and she needs nothing now to be a perfectly useable daily car. Equally, I believe she is at the stage where with just a little more time effort and money she could be made into as close to a pristine example as a 26 year old car can be.

I am going to end this thread here for now - see more in the "For Sale" thread which I am about to start.

We were really lucky with the paint, my friendly bodyshop owner did far more work than expected for the budget set. Sadly, he has now sold the business and retired at the age of 83.

As the proud owner I can confirm it is a truly remarkable story and Nikela is awesome! Would recommend a rescue car to anyone 😁
