Thought I'd post an update whilst we're all clock watching waiting for springtime to kick in!
Took the 480 out of his carcoon today. Last time he was out was new year (after going in just before Christmas). Originally, I thought it would be better left with the windows cracked so air could circulate. Bad idea. This caused mould to begin to grow within 3 weeks. So, when I put him back, I closed the windows, put three £1 dehumidifiers in and left the rear zip open on the inside of the carcoon (this is supposedly for drying - you're meant to close it after a day but....that means opening it all up again so, I gave it a try with it left open and was fine. It's an internal layer, not exposed to outside). This time it was great inside no signs of cold, damp or mould. It's in a very exposed area. Open fields and usually 4 degrees colder out there than anywhere else as soon as you get out on the road! So, yes, I'm happy with the carcoon purchase now.
I do have a problem......(wouldn't be a 480 if I didn't!). I took the it out just after new year as, at the time, I owned a '94 Rover 216 that was poisoning me with its fumes and I needed to go on a longer trip. Didn't fancy the CO poisoning so taxed the 480. It seemed slow at first and I just thought this was due to lack of use and it needing to warm up. Then, after about 100 or so miles (of a 200 mile trip), I got a new noise, a lack of power and bunny-hopping when it should have been turbo time. So, back in the carcoon, he went. Anyway, whatever it might be this time, I'm not thinking about it until it's cash injection time (April). Took it out today to see how bad it was. Still there, so...meh. Whatever. Later....
April will see it get a full service, interior/exterior detailing and many other update/preservation bits and bobs....above job is priority of course.
Attending the 600 in June but not sure about the May meet until nearer the time! Will go to a few Lincs shows again. I haven't had him a year yet but not far off. Plenty of £ spent and much more to come but hopefully all worth it. Insurance due April too. Currently with Flux Direct with an agreed value at a very reasonable £130. Will shop around though.
In other news; the 480 also became a daddy!
