There is this interesting serialised decal on the back which from AVJ Developments who interestingly were an Aston Martin tuner in Pershore, looked after by the apparantly famousTony Jones. I went and had a quick look in the engine bay for a turbo! There isn't one. I wonder if it was rebuilt by them for some more horses? ‎

And the bit which I am very pleased about to have just found out by reading the history papers is that it was originally D828 CPV, a Launch Car, which became A1 JOO‎. When it came off the private plate, for some reason it was allocated D101 DWP not its original plate.

So now there are two survivors of the original batch to have been sent over for demonstration! One of the launch car was at the Earls Court motor show and most were thrashed around Donnington apparently. The‎re is a video of this (a VHS went for big -ishmoney a few years ago on eBay) which I haven't seen. Would love to get a copy.

It has! The camera does seem to lie a little. Up close, it is nowhere near as good as it looks in the pictures. ‎

Loving it! I have fond memories of my Mum's car, D808 CPV - that was also a launch car. She sold it in 1994-ish with 70k on the clock and it died in 2002, so I understand. It never went wrong, or rotted, during the time we had it.

I wonder where DVLA put that original CPV reg? I wonder, with a bit of arm pulling, it could be re-instated?

Sorry to say that as it wasn't re-allocated to the car when the private plate came off, it would have already been sold. I queried that with dvla - when I was changing from one private plate to another I couldn't go straight off the old one to the new one. They have to allocate a replacement number which is the original one if it hasn't been sold or a random one if it has. I'm glad to say mine got the original number back, so now I've got that on retention. Quite important on a classic car, most owners want the original plate, so if you get the chance to buy the plate it's a good move.
