Well it all went in along with the exhaust

After

The insides of the rear box sections, sills and panels have been rust treated where necessary and then all wax coated so back end is close to completion.

This is looking fantastic!

I hope we get to see t for real in the not too distant future, although I appreciate that the front end might be a bigger job than the back end...

Due to work, life and my daily car needing some work not much has changed recently.

This being about the only exception.

Before.

Not as good as some :cryhard: but hopefully it’ll last a good few years.

Going to be a while before it goes back on though.

That’s quite impressive! Nice big coating of wax and you should be ok! They tend to rot from the inside out from what I’ve seen.

Once as much rust was removed as possible the inside was rust treated and wax coated. The outside was rust treated, repaired, had 3 coats of stone chip paint and then 2 coats of black paint.

I may also underseal it for good measure when it goes back on.

So after what must be the best part of 3 months with very little progress I can now say the rear end, including wax protection of all box sections, sills, arches etc inside and out, is finished and the car has been turned round to do the front. As can be seen initial prep has started.

Image

The plan at the moment is to strip out and restore/renew the brakes, drive shaft and suspension as per the rear. Rust treat and underseal as per the rear. Hoping to do very little to the steering. Remove the engine to restore the subframe. Again hoping not much will be needed to the engine itself other than the sticking exhaust valve, belts, water pump, aux pump, starter motor (which was becoming intermittent) and a general service and clean. I’m sure the list will grow through. :bla:

Once this is complete the car will need prepping for a re-spray and then the interior, glass etc putting back in.

I’m fairly sure she won’t be ready for the May meet  (and being realistic probably any meet this year :cryhard: ) but will probably still join you all for at least part of the run.

Getting close to the engine coming out.

Image

Glad I made the decision to remove it and other things in the end because there seems to be light rust behind everything I remove, some can be seen here and some can’t.

This (along with the sequel) has slowed things down and to make matters worse the winch is in the middle of the garage and can only be moved sideways and the engine with the garage doors shut is not. So having taken the wheels, brakes and suspension off to referb them most of it has now gone back on after removing the drive shafts.

Image

When the time comes (as much as possible has been removed and/or is loose) its open the garage doors, push car back, lift engine out, push car back and close the doors, that’s the theory anyway.

Nice work - You'll have no idea how much you'll appreciate having a garage until you've had spend the day, in the pouring rain, soaked through to the skin fixing cars.... :cryhard:

Know what you mean. Work on the daily car often has to be done outside.

Just been through all my pictures (on all treads I’ve posted in) and moved them over to Google so if anyone sees one not working please let me know.

The engine is now out and the plan went pretty smoothly just a little bit of moving the car back and forth and an engine mount bracket needing to be removed mid-lift.

Image

And other than the subframe it wasn’t really hiding any rust.

Image

Although spending has halted for the moment time is more plentiful and as I have already purchased a lot of bits work can still continue.

Weirdly, I can see your pictures and I'm not logged on to Google!

You shouldn't need to be logged in and I've changed the last 4 pictures but if you can see further back than that then I'm confused.

Now I'm even more confused.

An oil leak has kept the top of the O/S from corroding the underside is the worst but its not too bad in general.

Looks like Google Photo doesn’t officially support hosting and what I have been doing is a workaround that is unreliable (some people will see them others won’t) that the links could break at any time or the whole workaround removed at any time.

So on to the next provider. This time I’ve only updated the my first post and the last couple in this tread till I know it works.

Can a few people confirm they can see them and if anyone can’t please let me know before I go through all my posts again.
