hehe well I'm hoping to hook up the original gauges (including the boost gauge) to retain the 100 quid market value of the car.

Why is your speedo not working - speed sensor on the box? Should have one of those on pollution

Great minds think alike...
Or something like that.
If you're only gonna bin the 'box, I'll take it as a spare for when Ray's goes bang in spectacular fashion :)

tbh mate I may just have to take you up on that...the chaps at the garage have done some work with Renaults but never have grappled with a 480, so I am not expecting a drive in, drive out jobby..! Will be posting updates in due course!

Pollution news....recovered to garage & repairs underway. Unfortunately my plan of a 1.4 GTT engine is not a flyer & I will need to use the B18FT out of the 440. Tough decision but needs must.

That looks better.

Think of all that weight saving, right there ;)

You've still got my address to post me the old engine, right?
I'll send you a book of stamps!

*Wonders if Royal Mail will still post absolutely anything if you put enough stamps on it*

It's alive :) replacement engine in & connected up, planning to go for MOT next week...

The 440 turbo had to be broken, which I didn't enjoy. On the 440 V5 logbook was written:

Substantially repaired and/or accident damage

I assume that means Cat C. Somebody obviously cared about the car enough to save it at one point! Hopefully that will mean the engine & box are good.

One thing though....the car would start but die soon after. The EZ210K ECU in the 440 was red, in the 480 was blue..........................

Use the red EZ210K and the red Jetronic. The loom is the same, the advantage is no check on lambda.
No guarantee it will solve the stalling problem though.

Thank you sir

Unfortunately for me, you have worked on only the blue one, so I may need to contact you soon for work on the red EZ210K if you are still performing the mod (you did one red ECU for me but that is on a different car now)

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with your original ecu.

You only swapped the engines, right?

If you've made no loom alterations, it should work fine. Engines are of similar vintage, so no cam differences.

Am I missing something?

I was just wondering as the 440 is (was :() '92 and the 480 is '93 - double board in the red ECU/single board in the blue
