The Next Generation...

Post by Aelred » Sat Jan 29, 2011 10:05 pm

Hi all, I'm Kev's son, and as was mentioned in the 'for sale' thread I have bought Celebration #191. The car has previously been owned by VBB, Rachel, and (briefly) rgreenhalf. It is obvious that a lot of time and money has gone into the car but there are definitely things to do and hopefully I (read 'Dad') will be able to get the car up to our usual high standards. Since the majority of the mechanical work will be done by my Dad and limited funds until I get a 'real' job in September, the work won't progress particularly quickly (to my disappointment) ;)

To Do List:
  • Save up for insurance in March!
  • Find replacement nose cone/ respray spare nose cone
  • Investigate white powder in vents (probably oxidised evaporator in A/C system)
  • Find some Celeb wheels
  • Service and recalibrate LPG system
  • Fill holes left by DVD screen mount
  • Cosmetic TLC
Complete:
  • Temporarily fixed indented nose cone (requires replacement... eventually)
  • Remove DVD player and skull busting screen mount
  • Trace and remove superfluous cabling
  • Re-attach rear wiper
  • Lower clutch pedal
  • Clean leather interior
Relevant pictures will follow!

Second day on the job and we've successfully repaired the rear wiper by using Helga's old tailgate - hence why the Celebration is temporarily an S

Here is the culprit on the existing wiring loom:

While we were there we decided to tidy the boot area up a bit, remove some excess cables - that had been used for parking sensors and the like - as well as treat some rust around the frame:

The new tailgate in place (with all of the interior trim yet to be reassembled in the boot):

I suppose it's about time I posted an update about what's going on with the celebration :D

Things that have been done since the last post:
  • New nose cone fitted
  • Changed drop links and track rod ends
  • Fixed door stay strap on the drivers door
  • Replaced ignition barrel and re-coded other locks to ignition key
  • Sorted out dashboard bulbs
Things that still need doing:
  • Fixing the heating/aircon has taken a back seat for a while
  • Wash the car so I can take some photos!
