It started. Today, about two hours ago. We dont have normal idle yet, probably something wrong with the vacuum cables, we will sort out tomorrow. But the sound is very smooth, runs nicely. Pictures will follow soon. Now, I have to sleep. A lot. :)

engine fitted with all accesories, dashboard as well. everything works perfectly, except the engine:
it doesnt start when the engine is cold. too much petrol. we cleared and tested the injectors now they should work well, but still the cold starting is very difficult. i replaced the engine temp sensor, but no changes. what else could cause the too much petrol injecting?? until we figure it out, i build back the interior..

well, the problem still exists, obviously it gets too much petrol. if not the sensor or the injectors, what else could cause this? maybe the jetronic failed? could be?

Changed computer (the jetronic) and its much better. Not perfect, a bit too much still, but runs very well. Maybe just need to drive, dont forget it was standing for over almost a year.
I need only fit the hood, the front/rear lights, and the bumbers, put the seats in, and ready to go. I will have time for this on saturday, so the first ride will be on sunday.. lot of pictures and videos will come. :)
fingers crossed.

we did it. its over. after 8 months, its finished. finito. fine. :D i took a 150km trip today, and its even better than I tought. the engine runs smooth, the clutch and gearbox are flawless, the interior is massive, no noises, as it should be. :hopping:
Of course it will need more work, but for now, only fun for a while. :)

I made a lot of photos, I will upload it to flickr soon.

It is so strange, that I will have a plenty of freetime. :D What should I do now?! ;)

I uploaded some pictures to the set.

So, I will drive back to the garage this weekend to do some more work on the car.
First, we put the front Volvo badge to the wrong place. :D
The front bumber still not in the right position, I guess the holders in both sides were deformed, I have to fix it.
And some smaller stuffs wich I forget during the process.

I am still worried about the engine, but only ran less then 200km since then. I will put about 300km into it this weekend, if there wont be significant change, next week I change the injectors.

The car has done 2500km wihout any major problem. However I still have idle problems after full throttle, but hopefully it will be solved this week.
Further modifications on the way. ;)

Ghost in the shell..
I did a little trip with the car, after warming up I could not behave myself, so wrooooom... :) and the idle problem faded... I was convinced, that this problem caused by one (or both) valves (dump and the other) I already ordered the vw/audi 710N valves, but it seems there is something else wrong. The idle still stall sometimes after heavy acceleration, but it goes around 400 for a few sec then after a little rev up it falls back to normal.
I will change the valves anyway, but it made me think what could cause this problem?! :dunno:

Well, today was nice, I removed the nose cone to fix the popup lights, just for a quick repair, but... I removed the bumper, to install the new front spoiler, then I went under the car, to check oil leaks, I was happy, there is no oil leaks from the engine, at all, the bottom is dry like a desert. But there was some leak from the transmission, some screws were loose, so I fixed it, and cleaned the housing, we will see tomorrow if it helped. :)

3190km done. the car runs very well, 0-100km/h under 7 seconds, very agile, the amount of time between 100 and 200km/h is ...hmm.. not much. :) the guys did awesome work.
Because the engine is renewed, it is time for an oil change, hopefully I can manage it in the near future. I shortened the "to do" list also, fixed some minor problems: I changed the rear shock absorbers, fixed a broken vacuum tube. I also removed the "Turbo" signs, it looks exactly like when it was a 2ltr S.. :) I will put in the factory rear speakers, and remove the rear clusters for some polishing. Before the oil change I will take the car to a turbo specialist to check the old T2, just in case. I dont want to risk the renewed engine.. :)

I had very busy months, but finally from now on I will have some time to do some things on the car.. I still did not fix the injectors, but at least I know now, that is the source of the problem. Besides this (and my fears of the turbo) everything is just fine with the engine.

There aer some annoying noises in the interior, coming from the door panels. It turned out i am the idiot, i left few things out when I put it together...
Anyways, I decided to remove the panels and the seats (their mechanics are loud as well) and fix them.. Oh, and the usual: The ABS decided to stop working again (one of the back sensors must be a problem, because TRACS is still working) and the rev gauge loses the signal quite often.. :) ..Next big project is the renovation of the suspension, and everything else in there. With lots of pictures of course.
One evening I went for a ride with the car, and we tried to check acceleration. My friend recorded the first (and only) attempt and put it to youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNsdHgTu ... ideo_title

Well, I failed, the start is awful, but he swears its 6,5sec, I think it was little over 7. But in fact, its not bad from a 16 years old car, even I am sure it can be done better, especially if I could change gears by looking the rpm, not by feeling. :)

Maybe I wrote earlier that I took my spare injectors for ultrasonic cleaning. Yesterday I finally managed to change them.
Well, the stutter at idle and after heavy acceleration are disappeared, the engine runs very, very smooth, I love it!
So, when I said I am sure that some of my injectors are dying, I was right...

Hello.

Well, I sold it. :) The answer for the why is simple: it was ready. I realized, that I built something, I afraid to use. Driving it was more than stress, not joy.
And cars like this were built for fun. So, I let her go, and now I am looking for a new project. But one lesson learned: No complete restoration. :)

cheers.
