Its a white 1994 M plate. Its got one of those Rich mod things but I
am a long way off from trying it. Why ...

Image

As you can see the piston has melted and the bore is damaged. So I am
going to be a busy boy .Never worked on an engine in this way but I am
looking forward to it.
Fetched it yesterday .Towing is a worrying past time

Have made a start I will show you later.

of the engine bay so I can remove the engine.

Why are there so many pipes ?
Do I need to put them all back.

I have also removed the front bumper.

Image

Also the rear one

Image

Guess I am making brackets again ,although these are not as bad as my S.
Have since removed the rads ,rad motor and alternator

Image

Off to remove the starter motor and drain any engine oil.

I decided to remove the rear clusters so that I could get at a rust spot.
The clusters are not in great shape with a crack on the front face and
chips and cracks on the edes.
Also in my haste I broke a piece off the top edge about 8" long :(
Well I got the super glue out then wet & dry and gave it some lacquer.
Not a bad result ....
Image

These will do for a while as funds need to be dirercted at other areas .
I will however dig deep and get either some new ones or 2nd hand mint
ones.

Ok the engine is now removed .This was achieved this morning with the help of a friend Justin who knows what he is doing.
Image
On inspection the clutch will need replacing along with the bearing.Better to do it now whilst the engine is out.
I bought a Sealey hoist to do this job and it worked great.
Got to think what the next step will be ....

Well its anouther day and more paint .Decided to put the bonnet back on for safe keeping .
So the hinges got a coat of paint.

Image
Image

The pop up headlight covers were chipped and had loads of touch up blobs .
So I tried wet & drying and all was going well untill I went through in a couple of areas.
Nothing for it so out came the paint ...again

Also have removed the front suspension.

Image

So this weekend I will refit with new shocks ,lower ball joints ,trackrod ends, droplinks ,refurbished springs and wishbones .
Oh and new flexible brake hoses.

Seem to be spending a lot of hours and money but what the heck.

Soon as the suspension is done I can drop the engine in and plan the rear suspension.

I have also removed the interior and laid out cables for my speakers and amps.

Image
Image
Image

I also cleaned the seats and carpets and touched up the odd bits of paint on the floor area.

I have 3 sets of speaker cable going into each door 2 at 12 gauge and 1 16 gauge. It was a squeeze going through
the rubber sleeve but washing up liquid helped. Also ran two RCA cables and 4 gauge power cable to the rear.

Seats and carpets are now in and looking good ,will get pics soon.

Thought I would show you the engine before I dropped it into the car.
As you can see it has a nice new 215mm clutch.
What you can't see though is the new timing belt and tensioners sorry.
Oh I changed the sump once it was in the air

Image

In the car and all working

Ok although it was working it wasn't running right.

So I cleaned the idle control valve and sent my injectors for cleaning.Cost for this was £47 with postage.

When I got them back they came with a before & after report. They did a great job .

So I rewired new connectors to the wiring loom ,cleaned the fuel rail and painted the heat shield.

Now running nice and smooth.
