Could look quite good Dave
Trouble is, if you decide it looks pants (like you do from time to time, lol) it'll probably bring off some more laquer when you remove it!
I kinda like the idea though

Good point Steve but I think I'll try it, Gloss Black mind

Got a replacement radio today, mine had a few buttons with scratched off paint so when it was on the light would shine through, not good enough! The new one had a marked power button and the volume keys were sticking plus the fascia was scratched and shiney so I could just swap the radios over (and no, you can't just swap the face plate, you have to change the whole stereo it seems!).
The bottom is my original one.
I decided to risk it and take them apart to make one good one out of two rough uns!
I'm using the original faceplate and therefore radio but changed the damaged buttons on the my old one from the new one. Bloody fiddly or what! Took my literally an hour! i was worried the cat would start playing with the buttons on the table lol
In progress:
All back together and in place, original apart from the Bass/Fade, Eject, 2 + 3 buttons. So for £20 was it worth it? Probably not lol
The eject button needs touching up but that's easily done, it's just a shame I can't sell on the one I got as it's got a couple of sticking buttons, oh well!

This thing's a little beastie in the snow!
It should have stayed here but I just had to go for a play!
A very capable little car, very impressed with her in the snow coping with slippery inclines effortlessly!

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
I picked up the Mother from work yesterday evening and did a perfect 180 in the middle of the car park to turn around, I was so proud Got shouted at mind
Cleaned all the crap off the car today and it's signed off until the snow's gone for good ! Surely if I keep the grit out of the arches they'll last longer? I regularly clean them out but I noticed the paint has cracked slightly on the n/s rear near the sill, have to sort it soon to stop it getting worse. Seriously, what were these bloody things made from? :p

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
Today was the first time I've been able to give Poppy a wash in two weeks and as it was lovely I thought I'd clay, polish and wax it but once I did the one side of the car it started raining slightly! At least the one side looks good lol
The rear lights are of course good but I'm going to have to try and clean them up a bit!
Remember the bumper looking like this?
Well now it looks much smarter after a touch of paint and polishing etc. To be honest it looks far worse in the pic than in person so anyone that thinks you have to go to one of those crap 'Chips Away' sort of places is a numpty. Just some touch up and masking tape and you'll get a good enough repair for me
Here's that tiny patch of rust coming through on the n/s arch, there was little to no sign of this before I got the car back on the road . Obviously I'm going to have to do something about it, all I can do is sand it back and treat it!
Btw, I've bought a brand new set of wheels stupidly so the current ones will be available soonish!

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
My new wheels arrived today, trail fit tomorrow
Replaced the rear brake light today as it was a bit manky. Before:
After:
Cleaned the Leather up, not that you can notice, smells lovely mind!
While I was there I did spot some marks that looked like blood??? What's that all about???
Put up a new Air Freshener which just smells great!

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
Ok, I'm going to say it, I actually LOVE this car!!
People say these cars are crap. They complain about loose rattly trim, rough idles, dodgy electrics etc etc but mine behaves absolutely perfectly!! :D. Ok, it's not 100%, there's an imperfection on every panel of some sort (Ok I'm being very picky there), it has in the past been slightly difficult to engage reverse due to a worn gearbox mount and well that really is it!!
The car did get some more wax which I was unable to do due to rain the last time, looks great. When I walk away from the car I can't help but turnaround and admire it. It's a good job I'm hopelessly single, any Girl would be jealous lol!
I bought a used 'window scraper' as mine had bubbled up, it got bent in the post hence it looks ripply.
Desperately need new front clusters, already got some airtight long range lights!
Random!
My spigot rings for the new wheels still haven't arrived hence they aren't on yet . Soon though, soon...

So I got the tyres swapped over like I said I would. I like the colour scheme (black/chrome on red) but I'm not convinced on the design, probably swap them in another 3/4 months lol
What do you guys think?
Next, once the RH wheels are gone, I'll be being some springs and shocks

Don't like the wheels but do like the colour so I'll be redoing the ones I have when I can afford it.

Haha, sorry Dad!
I was wearing some old dirty things as you get muddy there due to the boggy grass and I didn't put a belt on them, I'm not usually that bad! lol
And yeah have a word with your paint guy please, that would be really helpful.
I want them in a metallic medium grey with matte silver dishes

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
Got some lovely LED bulbs for the DLRs from SpreeLED the other day. They are a million times better than what were in there before, and to anyone thinking 'Oh, your pop ups won't work properly!' Wrong! They work just as they did before, and they won't get anywhere near as hot obviously so are less likely to further age the clusters . I suggest anyone with good clusters rip out the standard bulbs for these!
Before:
During, the new bulb is the one or the left
After, they really improve the look no end!
Just to prove they all still work :p
I've got some new long range lights that I'll reseal to try and keep them condensation free!
Also, I'm trying to get the money together still for the wheel refurb, got to sell some bits first

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
The first time I drove the car at night with the LEDs I could notice the difference as soon as I turned the ignition on! The DRLs are actually lights now! Still wish I had some good units mind but they're bloody expensive.
Sold the RH Wheels I had before so I'm now hunting for something special as I really do hate what I've got on her at the moment!
Forum address sticker added...
And then a little bit later a bloody blizzard!
The poor little (big) V70 is cold too . Been off the road since June now. No real reason but just bought a MK3 Golf GTi so it went off the road!

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
Tinted the fogs today,
A nice little touch
Haven't come to a decision yet as to what wheels I want next after the RHs were collected yesterday.
I'd love some Azev As like in the picture below but they're quite rare in the spec I need. Also like the idea of some BBS RS replicas but I'm put off by stories of poor quality etc. I'm sure I'll make a decision eventually!

A worthy friend for any 480? Don't worry not for mine!
I've bought some new wheels and I promise these are very appropriate! Also managed to finally scrape some monies together for a dslr I spotted for sale in Hereford on eBay so expect many pics to come...
And yes, my Photobucket seems to have killed itself!

Re: Celebration - AcidicDavey's Turn!!
Still no sign of my new wheels , the guy's told me they're dispatched but hasn't said when and nor is there any sign of them!
Still, got a new camera for myself the other week. Here are some pics from today, the first of the car
They where in the Malverns today. The snow was a surprise to me as Hereford has been clear for a few days. There was an idiot Mini driver stuck on the exit to one hillside carpark dangerously close to the edge. Long story but sadly we weren't much help for him and he had to call the AA as his car was over the edge after our 'help'. God only knows why he tried driving down there when he knew it was conned off at the end!
P.S. As of the 23rd I've owned this car for 2 years now so I bought it a new tax disc holder, a pacman one
