infocenter 480 in 440 gl

The Volvo you want to know something about isn't a 480, but you can't find the answer to your question anywhere... Well, what the heck, have a try here in this corner of Volvos friendliest community...

just buy here a 480, it will be easier in the long term!!

i think if you swap the analogue dash with an infocentre dash you will get what you need. you have to make sure that the plugs on the back of the 2 dashboards are the same colour.

All 400 series cars had the Infocentre as an option if I remeber correctly, certainly the 94 + models.

Better to get a dash from a 440 or 460 I'd imagine and all the functions will work if you wire in all the sensors. Of the top of my head the GLT, GS and CD models all had them as standard.

I don't think it will work...

The speedo cable coming from the gearbox isn't electronic on the lower end 440's....i would say certainly not on a 440 GL (think the cable is reciculant). You would need the gearbox from a 440 Turbo or a CD, as they will have the electronic speedo sensor you need. I considered this for my '94 2.0i, but all the work involved just to get the speedo working wasn't worth the hassle.

I agree, it may be easier to get a 480 in the long run! Or get a 440 Turbo...

Don't get me wrong, I've seen a good quality GS 96 P with about 80k going for like £300, so personally I'd buy a new car rather than piss about with it to. Just saying it could be done.

I'd go with MGB_GT on this too-prob much easier to just buy a 440 with the infocenter, they do seem to be pretty cheap...

Sorry MG, i wasn't trying to be all hostile and challenge you! ;)
