I like big butts and I cannot lie...

The Volvo you want to know something about isn't a 480, but you can't find the answer to your question anywhere... Well, what the heck, have a try here in this corner of Volvos friendliest community...

You might want to check front left tyre pressure.

Yeah, the fronts have slow punctures, presumably because the wheels have been sprayed badly at some point.

Maybe they've painted the inside of the rim and it's not sealing properly.

I love that 460. Early mark 1 CDs were turbo'd; later ones 2.0i.

I am looking for a Mark One 460 Turbo (or CD) and was tempted by this one before the current owner got it, but I want a manual and I already have a Smoked Silver 440... few pics of it are below, along with my 480 :)

I would even consider swapping the 480 for a 460 Turbo.... the madness :)

Wow, that certainly is the cleanest looking 400 I've seen in a very long time!!

Definitely the best colour for a mk1 too :)

Pretty rare colour 480 you've got there, not a chance you'd get me swapping it for a 460... Just do as I do - expand!! ;)

(No, not around the waist, before anyone starts!!)

Thanks for your kind comments. I think the 440 is a keeper though, as it was registered in April 1989 and is the earliest UK 440 that is believed to have survived. Plus, it pretty much still has full Volvo service history, serviced every 6 months of its life up until last year. I did a cambelt, tensioner, gearbox oil change (which was filthy) and lots of other small jobs that the main dealer had missed. There is not a non-genuine Volvo part on it, now an original stereo has been fitted. It has the B18E engine in it too, which goes pretty well, especially past 4,000RPM.

The 480 is pretty good too; with a rot-free body and a genuine 65,000 recorded. It is a 2.0i and goes pretty well and has much higher gearing than the 440, making it more economical. It also has never been painted and is pretty original too.

I cannot expand the fleet further though - my list of cars is up to ten now so the 480 would have to go to pastures new if a good 460 Turbo Mark One came my way...

I like the alloys on the 460 Turbo though - I think they were fitted to the very early Turbo/CD cars for the first 18 months of production.

Yes; the mileage is genuine. I am using the 480 more to keep the mileage off the 440. Oh the hardship!!

Great pics, its nice to see some 440 love, it has to be the cleanest 440 i've seen for a very long time. I had the same model on a H Plate as my second car prior to swapping it for a H plate 480. My 440 was a great car quick, comfy and very underated plus it was only group 7 insurance the same engine 480 was group 12.

My 440 always seemed quicker and was certainly more reliable than the 480 it also outlived the 480 by about 6years too, just a shame it didn't have the pop up headlights :)

Folks, I am considering putting this on eBay and would be looking for about 1500 quid, just thought I'd give a heads up.

(car is a 460 CD mark 1 i.e. 1.7 turbo just to save some scrolling)

The idle speed is a little too high, and not a good hot starter...lambda sensor? Front suspension seems to have a bit of play in it probably just perished rubber.
