Post by glasgowjim » Wed Jun 11, 2008 10:50 pm

polo classic (saloon version) 1.9 diesel failed mot on a track rod end ball joint so got replacement and went to fit it tonight and surprise the the bloody locknut on the track rod is seized solid to the ball joint . WD40 and a heavy hammer and serious cursing and still its seized tight ! So much so that the spanner is beginning to chew up the flats on the track rod end

need serious advice on this one urgently

Get the blowtorch on it and get some heat into the equation...

If that doesn't help matters then it's time to get the hacksaw out!

(just don't cut into the track rod !)

Figure this out cos I cant got ball jiont splitter so no problem there then sqoushed some stuff from halfords on it and wham the bloody thing loosened up (may have had a lot to do with 36hours of wd40 soaking in) still off it came as nice as you like new one one and thats sorted! ;)

Now the last job another newbie for me remove near side wishbone and replace a giant rubber bushing and reassemble.
