My drivers seat on my 440 is loose.

Its not loose where the sub frame bolts to the chassis but It seems like it one of the mechanisms isnt fully locked (Althought ive tried moving the seat and the same thing is apparant)

The seat rocks slightly as an entire unit.

Just wondering if there is a common thing or what?

If you look in Roo's 'Secret life of a 480 Owner', i think it's page two, there is a picture of the bolt assembly for the seat mechanism. In this pic, it shows two rectangular with rounded ends washer type things. These just disintegrate (sp?) over time, which causes the seat to rock. Does it on mine too.

I see

Do you have to replace with the same shape washers?

How much of the seat do you have to remove/dismantle to just change the washers?

Yes,

the washers are still readily available on a lot of 440/460/480's with height adjustment. I found a 440 in my local scrapyard and took those.
You need to remove the four seat bolts that bolt the car to the floor and then its just a matter of replacing the washers. My how-to guide should explain the process if your uncertain of anything.
