Hi Guys,

I know this is a 480 forum but i really need some help,
The last time i posted on here i had just scrapped my 440 turbo, i now have a 440 glt and I was wondering if a leather interior from a 460 I have seen will fit?

Many thanks,

I still have the intercooler from my turbo (its in v good shape) if anyone is interested pm me.

my posts always get moved :D

440 owners are 2nd class citizens in this forum, i think its jealousy because our cars look meaner and don’t get mistaken for Aerodecks

Lol, how welcome do you think you'd be in the girl's toilets?

Sure, 440/460s share much of the same physiology, but this IS a 480 forum, not a 4XX forum. -That and our mod is somewhat 'proactive'.

Meaner? Lol...only in the way that Grandfather gets a bit agressive when his mind starts to slide into the etheral soup.

The aerodeck thing we came to terms with much like a homosexual must come to terms with being different. We hold "honda-lookalike pride" marches yearly in the ocean, half way between Born and Tokyo.

Seats is one thing we know very little about, since they are much different (read better) in the 480.
;)

I've had a 440 though...as far as i can guess, i'd say i'm 80% sure your seats will be interchangeable.

440-great cars. 480-brilliant cars. And i've had 2 x 440's so i've got good grounds for comparison-i had to buy a 480 to fit in!

With regads to the seats-the fronts will fit fine, but the rears are somewhat of a grey-area. There are padded cushion things each side of the rear seats that remain in place when folded down-i think these may be different to the 440 because of the boot difference.

It only takes 5 minutes to get the upright parts of the rear seats off, so i'd go to the breakers, find a 460, whip them out and have a look-then take yours off and compare. Despite being miserable bastards most of the time (well, here anyway)-they won't mind you taking them to your car to check if it means a sale...

stop encouraging him......if you want to be his friend tell him the truth.
440s are generally NOT great cars.....the odd one looks great, but then so does the odd fat bird......doesnt mean all munters are worth it

The 440 isnt a fat bird!, the early 440 in glt form looks good. i admit that the poverty spec 440s especially the facelift look rubbish.

I think boxy volvos looks great, 240s etc look great

Yeah, i have to defend the 440 a bit there i think...

The Mk1's GLTi/Turbo - and to some extent the GLEi's (they came in various guises and levels of trim etc) are nice. The facelift models are only nice if you got the right model. There were a few 1.7T's in later shape knocking about-but the only other one to go for was the 2.0i. Saying that, i don't think the build quality on my facelift model was as good as the 'H GLEi i used to have. The engine was pretty good. Not much electrics-just s/r, w, m etc-but less to go wrong. And i can honestly say, apart from the clutch going, it was just as reliable as the 480...

However, the 480 is a better car-and i think it's because it wasn't revised. It stayed the same (pretty much) build wise from start to finish. Yes, the plastics are crap-but it feels more solid than the facelift 440-it feels more mk1 440 solid. Can get alot of car for your money with a 440 too, but unfortunately so many for sale seem to be old dogs now, so the 440 has had it's best days i think, and it's not as iconic as the 480...shame :(

welll....i sort of agree.....monster in laws 440 looks good, but its got the original 440 bodykit on it....so again, using the less than pc example....like a fat ugly bird thats had lippo and cosmetic surgery....still a fat ugly bird underneath

Hey i own a 440T (facelift model) and it looks great, had a few people call it the baby 850t5, then again i would say red or black are the only colours that work on facelifts, every other colour is nasty (especialy green), and yes mine is red! as for the build quality, i woukd say mine is better than an early 440, alot of the isuues with earlier models had been sorted. (e.g all the seat levers actualy work, the central locking works! but ok the headlight wipers still dont work, win some lose some lol)

Oi!

I own a 460 Turbo and it's the dog's. I also have an Amazon that is better than every other car I own because it's mine. This is a fact. SRSLY. :D

I had a 480 ES and an S for a wee while as well. Also great cars.

Where's this 460 leather interior you're talking about? If you pass on it, I'd be very keen on acquiring it (and would probably rent a van to collect it). My 460 is a really early one - it was registered on November 1990 and came from the same registration area (YO) as my Amazon. I'd like a part leather interior to finish off, but can't find a CD or Turbo anywhere.

That's a nice steering wheel you have on your 460 (or is it 480) interior there?

I always thought the 440/460 interior was much nicer than the 480's, especially on newer models. I often wonder why they didn't just use the same interior in all the 440/60/80 range? I think the rickety interior is one of the worst things about any 480 I owned :(
